glxblt's annual best awarding of a new award award is hereby awarded to Demoklubi. Congratulations!
WTF?! Third place? THIS IS AN OUTRAGE, AN OUTRAGE I TELL YOU!
At least you had an executable version :)
This list makes more sense than that other one.
what okkie said!
OH YEAH
i guess we all deserve the exe after that :)
unc :D
Just as the thought occurred to me, I might also share some facts about how Demoklubi works. In general, it's a fun monthly get-together that serves a compact way for attendees to see most releases of the past month in a single go.
So, we have the session where most of the demo releases from the previous month are screened (+140" full-HD, believe me zeo-x-s is breath-taking!) and voted for.. but what gets shown?? First up, the release party has to be listed at demoparty.net or pouet.net, the person hosting the event hardly ever bothers 'digging deeper' when compiling the monthly screening list. Occasionally, exceptional non-party releases get screened too.
The "most of.." usually means "everything that has a video capture on Youtube" or any of the other common video sites. We could do executables or emulators too but its less hassle this way. PC demos usually have a better framerate too ;). With emulators there's also the issue of "proper config/setup required". So far, we have only Vice working this way.
Platforms or exe sizes are not grouped in anyway. These facts are presented before a prod is screened though, so it's up for each attendee to take the technical side into account. Comments do fly and most of the times, words aren't spared either. And yes, we also have clueless people attending every now and then. Personally I think this is just great; their votes will, as such, represent the visual appeal/attractiveness only. So far, the amount of participants on each session has ranged between 2-20 people.
Voting, how? The points range of our scoring system is from 0 to 3 and any amount of decimals is allowed. The points given are rounded/averaged, just so in case someone decides to get creative with the decimals. Coincidentally, the three-point-system also somewhat matches Pouet rating, as in 0 - 1.0 for "thumb down" 1.1 - 2.0 for piggy and 2.1 - 3.0 for "thumb up" ;)
And that's about it! For the 'Best of' we simply picked the top prod from each month (july & august got combined this year), then watched and voted for them once again.

vote on this! http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=58322 IN YOUR FACE!
Who could invent that kind of voting system?
Sounds like fun (= But why isn't Zeo-x-s still not on pouet if I may ask?
its still stuck in russian customs!
Rudi sure, I'll include it on the playlist of the next session.
Blueflame the answer might be closer than you think ;).. And you should attend a event!

Wait, so this is a real thing? :)
Gloom: sure.. I can't ever recall watching as much new releases as I did last year, all thanks to this monthly session :)
We'd also like invite guest demosceners to any of the sessions. So if you're in Helsinki around the first thursday of the month (everybody sure is!) and are up for some demo voting & beers, do drop me, truck or ps some mail about the arrangements.

w00t 160/170, not bad, not bad!
This whole demoklubi thing is a brilliant idea. In the UK I've set up something I call SWSM (south west sceners meeting) and we meet up every few months for beers and party plans. Having a screen setup would be pretty awesome imo. Funnily enough the next one is this Saturday, so I'll talk to the sceners about it there.
