haha. it's so ironic when they started out with "we did a total re-write of the devenv so it's faster than the last few versions that all got so slow compared to VS6" :) sad, sad, sad...
get a better pc then
What do you use it for? C++?
I really looked forward to better C++ support, refactoring and shit. VS2008 is basically VS2003, not much changed... Don't tell me with VS2010 it's the same shit all over again...

i'd rather use a plugin for refactoring than rely on the builtin stuff. and basicly i'd rather not use automation for refactoring at all :)
well, vs08 was getting to the point where it was fast enough for daily use

I really doubt they added something new for C++ in VS2010 (maybe TR1 support?).
BTW, I've never seen a working refactoring tool for C++... I mean an ACTUAL refactoring tool which isn't just a "rename helper". Any hints?

i installed the RC, loaded my 4k-framework and immediately stumbled into a new feature...
"alright, m$ fucked it up again !" i thought, then finding out clicking the ´?´ is not not working for me...
...what followed was some weird tracking down where to find that sheet-stuff and how-to-do-it...after some googling i read its some .xml-file, which i never found on my HD as there was no information where to find it.
i stumbled upon some entries named "Microsoft.Cpp.Win32.user" in the Property Manager and after double-clicking i had found it, finally ! ...added the DirectX-SDK-Directories and it accepted it furtheron in every Project :)
too bad it didn´t eat the "$(SolutionDir)" i added to the Executeable-Directories,
meaning i haven´t got VC++2010 working with crinkler so far ! :(
any help appreciated !

They added partial TR1 support in the VC2008 feature pack already, so I'm guessing they've put in more of it (all of it?) for 2010.
Didn't they rewrite parts of the UI in WPF for VS2010? No wonder it's slow then...
I think they added lambdas, static_assert, r-values references and auto.

the next "better pc" is always slower.
It's like chess: you can buy a better pc, but they'll have a new version that runs slower ready to counter it.
Time to switch IDEs.
personnaly I'm using codeblocks at the moment. It has evolved quite well.
well, codeblocks was crap the last time i checked it (last year or so)
don't do that, microsoft is the best. everybody knows that. you simply can't code using another editor. stop thinking about it. over and out.
that was kinda low :)
Does it compile for 64bits processor out of the box?
ehm, doesnt vc 2008 do that already?
2010 and still no prober IDE support for c++
time to switch programming language!
i wonder, why do so many people use c++ so much anyway? is its speed needed for anything but the inner loops?

i only use c++ for demoscene stuff and that's because i know how/when to change the compiler/linker setup.
at work we use higher level languages (java, c#, cobol and pl1).

Plus the 3D part of WPF doesn't have a line primitive. Those people are fucking deranged. They're incarnation 4.0 now... Seriously. WTF is wrong with them?
"at". or "'ve arrived". whatever.
