With the support of the city Arles, the Région Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur and the Conseil Général 13,
we are happy to inform & invite you to MAiN#4 Arles Demoscene Awards 2009

This year the MAiN party is held in Arles, located between Marseille and Avignon, in the center of the carmargue.
Held from 2nd to 4th october 2009 we are poud to present you maybe one of the biggest external Screens of europe.

We will offer airport shuttle busses to Marseille ( MP2 / REGULAR ) Airport and Nimes Airport ( eventually Montpellier too ).
Those airports are frequented by cheap-flight and regular airlines.

Competition entries will be displayed on the 3000m2 led screen located on the halls roof.

According to this document, the roof screen is 120 m wide and 25 m high. They also quote a low resolution mode of 960 x 89 pixels with 1 pixel every 25 cm in both directions. Except that those figures don't add up: either the horizontal resolution or the horizontal pitch should be halved.

Anyway, that's a freaking huge screen!

"They" extend the screen to 3000m2, (years 2008-2009), adding leds range.

120 m x 25 m already amounts to 3000 m^2, so "they" must have done something else too. There's a higher resolution subscreen toward the center, but I don't think it was supposed to count in the 960 pixels. Oh well, I'll wait for the official specs! :)

hope to see some 'trompe l'oeil' with 3d engines on this biiiig screen.
