I have been a latenighter myself for very very long, always been late to school because of that. Now that I have holidays, I'm just letting it slip because I don't really have to get up for anything anyway.
This semester, I decided to try and work a little more on my rhythm. It is weird how wrong it can feel to get ready for bed before 23:00 and just relax. You realize a lot of things about how you arrange your everyday and task-management, and these are all very healthy. Some of these things you allready knew, but I somehow wanted to change them more and more when I thought about what it did to my rhythm. Scheduling your tasks with a mix of FIFO and ALAP is a bad idea :)
Go for it, and have some balls. The hardest thing is turning off your computer and initiating your bed-time routine. As soon as you are in bed and the lights are off, you will be good. Focus on that. Take good time for it, because being 15 minutes late because you had to check our all of your favourite websites for updates twice is a bitter feeling. Generally, don't surf before going to bed. Don't even use the computer if you can avoid it. At least that works best for me, but it is hard to avoid :)

Another tip: Make your bed at least a few hours before going to sleep. It will be more inviting. It's not a sin to look forward to sleeping either, so learn to love dreaming and waking up with renewed energy instead of waking up feeling like crap because it is the middle of the day and the birds started singing before you turned off your PC.
for some ppl the problem sits elsewhere...just not being any sort of tired at all...and no matter at which time moving to bed trying to sleep it wont work !
but maybe thats just a small percentage of people, too bad i have to count myself in...
...on the other side i´m a coder and am just better at it in the nights when everyone else is shutup,making no noises ! i love the nights...!
but if you have to wake up in the morning, lemme tell you theres nothing you could miss by going to bed early...
...if theres a good movie on tv...they´ll show it again and again and again anyway.
...if you await a message per email or sth alike...just go to bed and sleep...you wont have to wait anymore...the next day it´ll most likely be there then anyway.
...if you just want to finish that level in that game, but its time to sleep...turn it off, go to sleep...the next day you´ll have time enough for it again...and sth to look forward to aswell, which will give you good dreams.
you cant miss anything if you go to bed earlier...theres always a next day ! ( only not if you die while you sleep but then you wont know you could have missed sth anymore anyway ! )

My sleep pattern is also a MAJOR problem for me too, always has been.
