just great! Great work from the organizers, great people, great feel in the place, dj-sets, scene.org awards, releases, ... congratulations!
But, all isn't good ;) the votesystem disappointed me.. i think that isn't good system, the firsts prods have a lot of points and some worst prods have the same points..
I think that bcnparty votesystem is the right way. Only one for entry can vote (if nobody of the entry votes, the entry is disqualified), and for vote it, only have to sort the entrys from the best to the worst.
I know that for some compos this can be a pain, but the results are perfect.
Anyway, great party!

Thanks to the Organizers. Very nice and friendly party with some kick ass campfire effect outside and of course some cool releases... Next time get some heating devices and then it'll be perfect. :D
Thanks for all, but trace... "the votesystem disappointed me"? I don't want to sound like certain National Rifle Association fuckwits, but:
Systems don't vote, people do.
And there are no things stranger than a party audience's taste.

I think you should try the US system of voting. Works great for Dubya!
Count the votes until a specific prod. wins? :>
Anyway, great party. The near perfect mix of Mekka-Symposium and Underground Conference

kb, i think trace is refering to prods after the 5th place or such, those prods wont cut it to make into the top 3 for each voter. Personally I like better the BCN voting system, it's fairer, but probably doesn't scale well up to 25 prods (er, ok, this 22nd, and this 23rd, u get the point, right?). Maybe voting first 10 prods or sth is manageable. Anyways, caring about positions after the 3 first is kind of pointless (caring about positions so much to start a discussion is even more stupid). I'll shut up now and i really have to try to go to mekka/bp some year (too far from the US :().

Big thanx to all Orgas!
BP rocked seriously. Never been to such a great party. When looking back at it even the "cold friday" was kinda fun, as I think it made the people sit closer together and talk more to each other.
The most impressive thing for me was the PC demo compo, not exactly for its entries, but for the fact, that it started ON TIME and was just 2 hrs long, so it was really enjoyable. Totally different from the disaster of last year's MS.
Sunday afternoon boozing outside and listening to the streaming music compo was just perfect. Sceners in the sun...
A last thank you to the Norwegian "Funguy", he brought us a lot of joy and laughter by his "performance"
See you all next year at Breakpoint'04

Yeh, cool. nice party. One sidenote though: Poland sucks. You were not funny on the stage, you were not funny in the meadow and you were certainly not funny in the sleepinghall (making noise with the megaphone is not very pleasant). Also during the 'stage-performance' before the PC Intros i noticed that one of the polish guys said 'Come to Symphony in Poland, there will be 300 guys just like us! Imagine that!'. Yes, imagine that: 300 drunk nerds, running about on a meadow, in a hall or between sleeping persons - while destroying bottles, throwing bottles at other people or making sure that the sleeping people can't sleep!
Symphony - a polish party that _I_ wouldn't recommend (just for the sole fact that the polish representatives very FUCKING ANNOYING during the whole show).
I stand back and await the flaming.
Oh yeh, of course - the PC DEMO and the PC INTRO compo of course rocked like hell and I just want to say: ONLY PC MAKES IT POSSIBLE!

i must say i find 'the poles' a bit of an overgeneralization. imho flapjack and the coder fella whose name i don't know how to spell were truly very okay.
and actually also azzaro and silentriot were really fucking nice at SOTA. no clue why they were such fucks here.
oh yes and sure, amiga sucks :)

Thanks for the party to all the orgas, and all the attenders. This was a very-very nice party.
hope to see you next year!

kb: but surely you do agree that if a system *is* flawed, one can expect it to yield disappointing results?
I agree with mac: a three-out-of-over-twenty system is not really going to work. You discard quite a number of releases you liked that way. You could see that in compos of say, 5 to10 releases, the results were far more like the initial reactions of people.
Anyway, beside that, the INCREDIBLY stale C64/Amiga people who should do something more fresh than cracking PC jokes, it was incredible.

about the votesystem: how many of the attendees at BP were sober enough to remeber (and rank) the 22 demos before the vote deadline? :-)
as long has organizers do not understand that public voting has had it's best days, we shouldn't care about rankings anyway.
oh and i'd also like to say it: amiga is gay :)

With Parties like these i can easily forget Mekka! In fact, i think the Party was even better than Mekka!
pros
- super food supply
- perfect organising
- cool beer supply
- outdoor party action with live djs and even music compo transmitted outside for the sunny ppl. (i asked netpoet who could arrange that feature superquick!)
- no big delays in compo schedules, no big crashes
- no thefts
- friendly organisers
- boozing+smoking inside the hall!
- cool demos in the competition
- super big sleeping hall
- the tent was amazingly cool for friendly sitting together while having a beer and playing slengpung cards.
the cons
- too high entrance fee (35€ would be really OK)
- too many compos (free + theme graphics, why o why? and because of that too small prices.
- a bit cold sleeping hall
- streaming music compo featured 3 (!) coverversions and all these coverversions won the compo. never heard of the doors or stand by me guys???? that entries should have been disqualified.
anyway i cant say that those are negative aspects at all, they just happen but can be easily forgotten becauseBreakpoint Party ruled and i dont care about mekka party when there are partys like this!
go for breakpoint 2003!

It was my first party, it was great and I absolutely agree with RA5MUS.
Sceners were all nice but most of them weren't able to use the blue thrash-bags.

very very nice demoparty!
congrats to organizers for making it..
the party place was probably the most horrible i've seen for a demoparty, but who cares ? we are just here for few days, and it was even possible to take a shower : best party-place feature ever :p
yeah, maybe some very very drunk ppl were a bit annoying..
and the very sober french dudes also shouted a sh*tload of "Alllleeeeezzz" :P
but for sure the atmosphere, chilling outside on sunday and compos provided a very very nice time there :)
once again, congrats to the organizers and ppl who released something there :P

Oh yes, and Louie's speech ending was the most misguided taunt I heard in three years.
Why don't we stop using PCs and start making Amiga demos instead? Maybe because we like high resolution, decent framerates, probably can't be bothered to fuck our meshes up to patheticly low polygon numbers and like more than the handful of people with an amiga to enjoy the show? Just guessing here.
The people who applauded and cheered for that one need to check out reality. It's a nice place.

heh, shifter: you ever been involved in a production being better than any tbl demo that louie has been involved in? - i seriously doubt that ;-P anyways, i dont think many has. And imho those guys are the only guys that can do propaganda for amiga for real, i mean, those guys that does really nice stuff on it, however... I also like high resolution, dualhead, new stuff etc. Unfortunetly there was only one demo at breakpoint on PC that was worth meantioning, luckily it won :)
Breakpoint ruled! But the fucking windows / microsoft / pc jokes are getting old! That shit was funny in the late ninetees, welcome in the new millenium!
Oh I actually didn't care about the temperatures in the sleeping hall. I mean, you have your sleeping bag, you can bring some sheets with you. It's better to have a warm Partyhall where you are sitting around in your sweater and stuff. :P
The BITBURGER beer actually was not that good, but well. It's still alcohol..

"Visual contact with Rasmus lost.
We hated him anyway."
Yea, one of the coolest parties I ever attended... and those who don't catch why the Polish behaved as they did, and don't know why the Amiga rules, DON'T HAVE THE SLIGHEST FUCKING CLUE about what the scene is!

"amiga is gay and that why amiga is so much better than pc can ever be."
- Finnish Amiga Group
negative things:
too few toilets
too few busses to town
positive things:
almost everything else bus especially the wood for the fire..
need to write a decent partyraport from the whole trip, since there is some much to tell about.
oh, and i think that the polish people were funny and i definetly will finish symphony this summer. though, that drunken-norwegian-guy was a bit more funny than the polish people.
oh and please, by some cds from me, i didn't sell enough of them at the party.

i definetely have to defend the poles. they know how to party. respect! i'd love to attend symphony, but got exams the monday after...=(
and who was really annoying, was that norwegian guy. rampaging during the awards, bootkicking people sitting infront of you, puking everywhere, passing out inmidst the sits, that's not fun. polish pre-compo "entertainment" somehow is...=) don't forget, the madwizards guys neither puke in a too public place nor injured someone. so what's the matter...

nosfe's cds rule.
the breakpoint rocked. that's it. there's always pros and cons at parties, and there's always people bitching about everything.
as for me, i had big fun. the organizing team earns my biggest respect for raising up that event, they really did a hell of a job.
thanks to everybody who was there.
