"It's with a sad heart we report that our long time friend and Atari demoscene extraordinaire mOdmate passed away today, March 1 of 2025. Torsten has been fightning cancer for almost a year while still being active with demoscene projects to the very end.
Our condolences go to his family, wife and children.
We wish you all the strength you need.
We are losing a wonderful friend and at the same time one of the most passionate and skilled Atari sceners of the past decades. He fell in love with the scene as a kid, shared this enthusiasm with all of us and kept on working on scene projects till the very last day.
May he live on in his beautful pictures, musics and programs and let's remember Torsten for all the good times we've had together.
mOdmate forever!"

First time we met must have been 1999 or thereabouts. I'm glad I had the opportunity to share some good times watching streams with mOdmate in his last months. Rest in peace!
RIP m0d... I just cannot believe it:( condolences to friends and family.
Rest in peace Torsten, you'll be missed :(
I'm so sad. You've been a blessed artist. Rest in peace.
:/ thats a great shame
RIP
Rest in peace.
I first met Torsten probably at SILIconvention'97.... later on at InterJam'98, Error in the the Line'99, and Silly Venture, but I can't remember at the moment which year... we were also both part of disk-mag's “Undercover” team. I always admired his artistic talent, and never expected that from an excellent graphic designer he would become an even better musician. It was only recently that I realized how sick he was. We kept in touch until last Friday, when he wrote me how happy he was with the package he just received. The next day I learned that he was dead. It's impossible to describe the emotions that accompany me when I think about it.... But I am glad that I was the reason for his joy at the end of his journey. Rest in peace Torsten.
i didn't know him for a particularly long time but he was just the nicest, warmest guy every time we met. i really admired him and i'll miss him. rip
RIP
Such a terrible loss. One of the friendliest guys around. You'll be greatly missed. Rest in peace!

These are very sad news.
I have known Torsten since 1990 and we went together through our school, university and professional years. While my own contributions to the (PC) demo scene have been insignificant, I have always admired the artistic talent, never-ending creativity and enthusiastic passion that he has brought to the Atari scene. His gfx, sounds and code will never be forgotten.
I have spent many weeks with him in January and talked to him last on Friday. His body may have given up on him, but until his last day he was the humorous, generous, attentive and thoughtful person that we all loved so much. Big hugs and rest in peace, old buddy!

RIP :(
This is so terribly sad news.
I first met Torsten at my first international Atari demoparty, in 1999. He always was fun to hang out with, always had a nice thing to say, really paid attention to others. I will always remember these good times we shared around an Atari, around a beer or a barbecue.
Losing such a nice, positive and talented person is so unfair.
All my condolences to his close frends and loved ones. RIP
