See topic. We've been noticing (and fixing) dozens of broken links in recent weeks and the server seems unreachable. Does anyone know what's going on?
well earlier this year 4players sacked all their staff and sold to another media group... maybe its them doing some cleanup of old boxes standing around?

My best guess is that went down together with 4Sceners, shortly after Bobic had announced the end of the site :/

Over on the 4sceners.de website, which is now defunct. But that was quite a while ago. WB Machine is still offline so I can't point to the backup post at the moment.
okay then they most likely did not go down at the same time because links to the 4players ftp didn't start breaking until a few weeks ago

Actually, that was in 2021 already. Wow, time sure flies. Obviously the ftp kept running on after that for several years, so maybe it's not related after all or maybe they finally pulled the plug just now. If Bobic is around, maybe he can shed some light on this :)

Unfortunately I don't have any clue what's going on at 4P and I have never met anyone of the new crew or spoken to them. To me everything was over at the end of 2021. I noticed that I couldn't access the FTP since that time, but everything was still online. Havoc is right, that they must have closed it a couple of months ago. The old 4P team was like a family and had a heart for special stuff like the demoscene. But the good guys had to go and there's no soul for a hobby project like 4Sceners left.
If anyone should need something which I've put on the 4P FTP, let me know. I still have a backup of everything. Thousands of demo screenshots for example (the same goes for all back2roots.org stuff).

Thanks for the update Bobic! So far we've luckily been able to find alternative downloads for most prods that were affected, and were able to upload the ~handful that were not readily available elsewhere to scene.org by way of Sesse's backup server. Should there be any problematic cases ahead of us then it's good to know you have those backups, based on experiences so far I suspect it'll all be fine though (famous last words..? ;)).

bobic: I would hate to see all your 4sceners content to get lost. What is the legal situation on putting that up somewhere?
