Partially cross-posting / pasting this from FB for all you non-FB'ers.. gotta admit I'm very much with the latter too even if I have a page. Some of this was included in my initial Pouet BBS thread for the compilation.. I think =)
So, the release of Decades Vol. 1 is now only two weeks away (wheee!). Why four albums and what are those about?
Over the course of compiling this set I was at first looking into making one album. Then I had that poll about what to include, and things looked more like two albums.
After that I took my time thinking about and organizing that set of songs, then to realize that my often liberal sampling habits would call for excessive sample clearance work.. and most importantly what I don't have, a budget. So then it was three albums.
Finally at very late stages I chose to split some of the songs on a fourth album, both to include some extra tunes "from the archives" and present the "die hard fan material" separately. Some of the tracks on vol. 4 are definite Demoscene trivia, and to appreciate them in any way you need to know some of the demos these songs were made for. In other words, including any of that somewhere like vol. 1 has very little relevance to anyone new wanting to get inspired by any of my "Demoscene stuff". And I want to try and make my works more accessible to newcomers too.
Above all there are matters of style / genre: As most people prefer listening to maybe one to three genres above others, I thought maybe it would make sense and try cater for this too.. even if each album still is somewhat a mixed bag.
TL;DR - All of the above lead me to base each volume loosely around a theme and they are:
Vol. 1 - Electronic music (perhaps) for listening
Vol. 2 - The dance-y stuff like (real) electro and 4-to-the-floor dance beats
Vol. 3 - Sample heavy breaks & beats
Vol. 4 - Fun stuff from the archives, like one of songs that later became 'Choose Zero Polys..'. It may even structurally line up over '1995' (didn't check tho).
So that's the basic album info, more about the content and distribution plans coming up in some days or maybe early next week.
And yes you can still dance to Vol. 1 if you like ;)

Ok abt distribution, here's how it will go:
Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 will be distributed to all major services
Vol. 3 & Vol. 4 will be Bandcamp exclusives
A longer post on my train of thought here on FB.
And for songs which were requested a lot but are not included: Minus the few odd ones which I don't have project files for anymore, the rest belong to projects that were designed from the get-go to stand on their own. I left them out for this reason alone. Imo they deserve to be released as the projects they were intended to be.
I've now set Vol. 1 & 2 to pre-release state on Bandcamp, so anyone wanting to take a look at what's included, please see Vol.1 here and Vol. 2 here.
Considering theme of Vol. 3 I mentioned previously, I assume everyone pretty much knows which songs to expect ;)

Excited af to announce that vol. 1 of Decades is out now!
Please visit here and pick your favorite music service: https://push.fm/link/decades1
I will keep updating the list as more services are available.
Then about that vinyl version. Since it's been asked for a lot I'm now looking into possibility of making it happen. Most likely it would be some sort of crowd-funded thing.
So, if you'd rather buy the compilation on vinyl than digital, I would ask you to fill out the following survey asap.
http://bit.ly/DecadesVinyl
This will help me to evaluate if any vinyl is doable. Granted, it will not be a cheap product but if you're really REALLY dying to get some of my tracks on vinyl, then this is it!
Most importantly, I would love to hear what you think about Vol.1 and its remasters :)

And the only way to launch anything is of course to forgot the linkage (whee!)

I loved the previews, will purchase at the end of the month.
Well: it sounds great :)
4 themes and a masterplan, probably my favourite bitchard track! <3
Decades Vol. 2 is out now, check it out!
List of music services for the album
Only a handful of services are included as of now, but will add new ones later today!
Remember: If you'd like to see some sort of a Decades vinyl release, then please give your vote and visit the survey link I posted previously. I will close the poll early next week and see about how / if the release is doable.

\0/ whoop whoop!
btw. what do you think of doing "sound-remastered" versions of demos with the soundtrack files exchanged for the remastered versions?

you were right, this clean mix of Kasari makes it heaps better :D

Thought did cross my mind but there's been way too much work as-is to get the four albums done, and I didn't want to add to that. Of course if anyone wants to watch the demos with the remastered version they're free to do so. It certainly isn't too big a task line up and render a new version eg. using Reaper. And no doubt the remastered versions will play back much nicer on a big party audio setup.
Commonly at least the mfx / Kewlers demos have the song in a separate file. If it's a .dat (instead of .mp3) then you only need to rename the new .mp3 (aligned to match original) to use the same extension.
Btw tEiS if you happen to see this, IMPORTANT STUFF HERE
Please get in touch about (performers) ISRC registrations for the compilation. I've sent a couple of emails already and don't have any other means of reaching you. Do check your spam folder or whatever :)
