we have partytickets which can beat your partytickets
Ok. Seriously. Why are these tickets for a 1 day event $20? Breakpoint is approximately $40 for a 4 day event. Comparitively, that's twice as much. Or 3 times at the door. Now, while I don't think a comparison between the two is fair, it does raise some issues in terms of advocacy.
I probably won't be in the country at that time, so I will probably not be there.
For those folks that I would encourage to go, I'm not sure that I can do an adequate job of selling them on the idea of going to Salt Lake City, for ONE day, spending $20 or $30 to get in and watch demos. With no beer.
And $30 at the door?
I'm not saying it's a bad price, I'm just asking for justification. Having the cash available for winners of the various compos would be a good justification. "We have to pay for the hall" I will argue is not a good justification. Again, the reason I need a justification is when I am advocating GOING TO THE PARTY to people who are interested, they know WHY they are spending so much money.
Because quite frankly, they can visit me and see hours of demos, get many demos to take home, and see my collection of oldsk0Ol equipment and Mame games. And, they'll tell me "ok so why do I want to go to Salt Lake?" and I'll be saying things like "well you can meet Troll!" and they'll tell me they can do that in Chicago, and if they do that in Chicago, they get beer. And I'll say "Well you can um... um..." And they'll say "I wanna watch SilkCut again" and I'll say "Cool" and we'll forget all about them actually going to the party. Which would be a shame.
(And are we going to have the compo rules posted a week after the party again?)

serious? a demoparty with no beer?? not right outside the front door (finland stylee) either?
skrebble: you have to realize, its in utah.. people arent really sane there :)
truck: it's being held in a hotel, so seeing that the #trax 10 year party came out to something like 47 bucks, 20 seems like a deal in comparison. perhaps if they chose an abandoned military depot as a venue, it would be cheaper. plus, they'll have speakers and seminars.
besides, if you're driving/flying all the way out to utah anyway, what the hell is another 20 bucks?
and if you're going somewhere just to get piss drunk, no, utah is not the state to do it in. :)

lectures and seminars with no after party?
americans are weird.
americans are weird.
NO BEERCOMPO? that sux
SirG Where do you get the idea that its a one-day event? Its been advertised as a two-day event (Friday+Saturday) for 2004 ever since the beginning.
The rest of your comments are similarly misinformed....
ps You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

leg: indeed i dont :)
americans are still weird though ;)
well except for those who get totally drunk and then go walking around naked. those are rather normal, really.
legalize: i'd like to note that i still haven't recieved any pilgrimage'03 photos for slengpung. now who's fault is it? :)
Gargaj Slengpung is extremely low on my priority list. The photos have been on scene.org since August 2003.
Gargaj Besides, I sent them immediately after the party and slengpung lost them.
I sent you an email where all i asked you was to resend them, with comments and preselection, because (as I also explained) we went down, we wrote a new uploadsystem, etc. etc.
You answered and said it's ok and you'll resend/reupload them around the weekend i sent you the email. Nothing since. Not blaming anyone tho', I guess you have other stuff, etc.
Still the cleanest thing would be to get a preselected, commented batch of pictures so we can set the record straight.

oh gargaj darling you're too modest..
what you SHOULD reply is that we didn't want to put any pilgrimage photos up since they didn't contain any of the buzzwords; nudity, violence, drug-abuse and a multitude of illegal activities.

I'd favor Gargaj's statement over yours though. Nothing wrong with being polite and correct. Violence, drug-abuse and illegal activities are not cool. Not even when performed by nerds.
I vote this now the unofficial "Pouet missing the point thread of the day"
nothing bad with joking either plekstah, not even when it's a bad joke :)
Gerald: Oh no, this is ok. Nudity is the problem. Look at the typical scener and you know what I mean. Btw, there is a breakpoint-photo of me and "some weird guy" and I like it. But it is not on Slengpung what I like, too.
Leia: I want some more TG-Impressions. Please. *tryingtolookverycutebutfail*

Leia: Very bad yes :)
And my name is Gerard, not Gerald.
I'll post a picture of myself..

and gargaj rapidly steals leading fast like a rabbit hurrying home on a hot summer night.
madenmann: i thought you didn't want any since you felt breakpoint ruled more :) .. but I'll see what i can do..
plek: so? (it was you)
and gargaj already won...
