Thorn
Here is my entry in the 256 byte game contest. It's called Thorn, and it requires a 286 with VGA to run. All you need to do is clear the board until only one thorn remains. If you're an expert, you can finish with the last pin in the middle of the board, on square 16. First, choose a starting square by entering its number. Single digit numbers need leading zeros, such as 07. Then choose an empty square to jump to. Don't ever hit ENTER, just type the two numbers. Squares that are black and white are empty, and colored squares are occupied by thorns. You can only jump 2 squares horizontally or vertically and there must be a pin on the square jumped over. Here's an example: 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | o | | | o | o | | | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ You can take the thorn from square 09 and place it to square 11. When you do this jump, the result will look like this: 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | o | | | | | o | | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ Notice that the the pins in 09 and 10 both went away, and a pin was moved into 11. Also notice that in this example you can't move from square 06 horizontally. Press ESC to exit Thorn. Notice that a test for jumping across the sides of the board isn't implemented, due to size limitations. And remember to put leading zeros in front of single digit numbers.
