If you haven't seen the demo yet, stop reading!! :-) However, if you
encountered any problems while running it, you may find the solution
  below.

On the legal side of things, MagicDreams and everyone who contributed
for the demo will not, in any case, by any means, no matter what
happens or what damage should appear, be liable for it. This software
is not supposed to do anything else than what it does when you run it.
Thus it is not assumed to be suitable for any particular purpose; we
will not assume any responsibilities, expressed or implied, about it.
You know what we mean, don't you?

The package can be distributed freely without modification. No money
can be charged for it, other than standard fees for access to a BBS,
or the cost of the material the demonstration is recorded on. It can
not be used to add value to a commercial product; however, shareware
distributors can put it in their collections, be it CD-ROM or floppy
disks and similar computer media, as long as it's sold together with
other shareware or public domain programs in the same package; never
can this demonstration be alone in the sold package, or be the first
reason to give the customer in order to get him interested.

The demonstration can be used in computer shops in order to show the
power (or lack of power) of a machine running it. If you're in doubt
whether you're doing correctly or not regarding this limitations, do
  not hesitate to contact us.

                           TROUBLESHOOTING
- - - - - - - - - - - - ------------ - - - - - - - - - - - -

First of all, to run this demo you need at least a Pentium with WIN95
and DirectX 5.0 installed. A DirectSound compatible Soundcard must be
be installed (it may run without a soundcard, too).
To fully enjoy we recommend a Pentium 166 and a 3D-Accelerator, which
supports Alphablending. On cards without Alphablending some effects
don't work correctly. Don't blame us for this!

We have thoroughly tested this program in many machines with several
  configurations; for example:

  - Pentium 133 with 32 megabyte of memory, a Diamond Viper V330 Graphic
Accelerator Card with 4 meg videomem, Windows 95 and DirectX 6.0
installed and a Soundblaster 16 PnP Value (CodeX's machine)

  - Pentium 233MMX with 32 megabyte of memory, a Matrox Mystique with
4 MB videomemory, Windows 95 and DirectX 5.0 installed and
    Soundblaster 16 (Chronos's machine)

  - Pentium II 300 with 32 megabyte SDRAM, a Elsa Victory Erazor with
4 MB videomemory, Windows 95 and DirectX 5.0 installed and a
    Soundblaster 16

In the infortunate case that the demo doesn't run:

  - Reboot Windows and try again (Yes!)

  - Make sure DirectX 5 is installed correctly
    (Some games install older versions)

  - Try to get the latest drivers for your hardware

  - Switch you resolution to 640x400 HiColor (16-Bit)

  - Go to a friend and watch it there, we're sorry!

                             ABOUT COSMIC
- - - - - - - - - - - - ------------ - - - - - - - - - - - -

We are very proud to release COSMIC at last. Although it's quite
nice, in the end we weren't totally satisfied. During development
we relized that our 3D-Engine was not powerful enough, but there
wasn't time to code a better one. The whole demo was made in about
half a year. But we had many troubles in the last few weeks. The
release of WIN98 and the announce that the Party-Computer would
run under WIN98 brought on a big problem. WIN98 included a BETA-
Release of DSound 6.0, which wasn't compatible to DSound 5.0.
It took us days to solve the problem (try finding an error if
everything DSound returns is an internal error!). Another problem
was the music. Three weeks before the party not a single pattern
hat been composed. At least we managed to release it! Enjoy it!
  It was made for you!
Unfortunately a virus on the compo-pc made our it crash after the
city-part :-(. If this didn't happen we might even have won the
compo! Many thanks to poti and KB who tried to help us!
