Music.Contest.]I[.Intro....................................................... MUSIC CONTEST ]I[ a HORNET Production .............................................................................. _____Overview This demo is a 4 month project aimed at advertising Music Contest ]I[. Please refer to the mc3rules.zip archive for more specific information on the contest. Some of the information in this intro may be slightly inaccurate. The mc3rules.zip are the _official_ rules to this contest. I'm going to be zipping past the topics fairly quickly, as I simply don't have the time to write up a proper one. Anyway, have a look through now, and see if any of it applies to you. Enjoy this demo, and if possible, try and enter something in the contest. You never know, you might just win :). :Jason Nunn and the MC3 Development Team Wednesday 12th April 1995 .............................................................................. _____System Requirements Essentials : 386 or better VGA ability 4 megs RAM Recommended : Hard disk for fast loading One of the following soundcards: SB 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0, SBPRO GUS Any of the PAS card family .............................................................................. _____Instructions and Troubleshooting For configuration, use this as a guideline: For GUS card users, you can run this demo on any size computer. Note that I have cut the GUS volume table back considerably to speed up volume ramping. So, take into account that Mellow-D's music won't sound quite what it should be when played through GUS cards. People with SBPRO cards, a slow machine may not be able to cope. If you have a 386-16 running SB, then i would advise that you have no sound at all. If you haven't got a super fast computer, than I would like you to select the "11025" sample rate please. - This demo runs on Adam Seychells DOS32 V3.00ß P-mode platform. Although, he has built his extender to meet DPMI, OS/2, EMM386 specifications, many of my testers are still reporting complaints. It is mostly my fault as I am not using Adam's extender properly, but for now please run this demo in a clean DOS environment. - Some people with SB16 and AWE32 cards have reported clicking. I have tried to fix this within the deadline of this demo, but without any luck. Sorry. :( - If you have a PAS, or any crusty SB compatible devices, use the SB compatibility mode. - There is a bug when running in SBPRO mode. Every now and then, the card doesn't initialize properly. I have tried everything to try a correct it for about a year or so. I can not for the life of me figure out what is causing it. So, if the sound output sounds very warped and slow, simply reset the machine and rerun it. - Snowman questioned the "Over Pass Filter" setting I have in the setup screen of the demo. This currently only applies to SBPRO people. This filter filters/enhances the output signal. For further reading, refer to your SB manual. - If you want to re-setup your soundcard settings, simply delete the *.CFG file and run the program again. .............................................................................. _____Credits Code: Jason Nunn/SRD GFX: Stony + John Ross/SRD Music: Mellow-D + Jason Nunn/SRD Ansi: Thor Teague .............................................................................. _____Contacts Jason : jsno@amigar.apana.org.au Mellow-D: jak@pok.hole.fi Stony : p.vanmun0@hsbos.nl .............................................................................. _____Questions or Comments If you have any questions or comments about this intro, write to someone under the "Contacts" list above.
