What the hell is a comtro, you ask? Run the demo and see for yourself... Requirements: ------------- Not much. You probably don't want to see this demo on a 286, but hey, it DOES work! Something you DO need to posses to see this demo, is VGA. A sound card is also recommended. History: -------- The Comtro 64 originated as a failed trial to create a Commodore C64 simulation on the P.C. After finishing the 17th translation table I got so tired of the program I decided to transform it into a small demo. I had the main program ready in about 6 hours. (Typing in the writer's data was the hardest part, it took a lot of time to debug that!) I composed the C64-Music in notime. After adding the loader and the credit-screen, I recoded parts of the main program, to make it run faster. (Coders: I removed the 4 bit-plane parts and reprogrammed it in clean old "mode Y". It runs about 12 times as fast now, so this part can now be also enjoyed by people with slower hardware...) Technical information: ---------------------- The Comtro 64 was programmed in Borland Pascal 7.0 mixed with assembler. The main program is in pure 320x200 256 color VGA ("mode Y"). The loader and credits-parts are coded in 320x200x4 bitplanes 256 color vga ("mode X"). The screen directives for these parts are taken from a heavily modified version of L. Bakker's excellent GAME KIT. The (not-so-good) grafix were drawn by me using Deluxe Paint II enhanched. The music was composed in ModEdit III. To play the music during the demo the excellent VangelisTracker is used. Why? We don't have our own Modplayer (yet), that's why! The Unstoppable Hacker Bunch (TUHB) ----------------------------------- TUHB is a group of Dutch guys wanting to have fun with their computer-hardware and create nice programs, like demo's, games and other cool stuff. We are certainly not the best group around (yet), but we are getting better! Some of TUHB's members (that includes me! -The Watcher-) are studying at an university, so we can't produce as much as we would like. An other reason for this is the fact that we have a severe lack of manpower. We need more members (Coders, graficians & musicians) badly! TUHB Memberlist --------------- TUHB's members currently are: - The Watcher: Main Coder, Musician, Program Designer. - Aciid: Program Designer, Swapper, Software Courier. - TFM: (Pretty good) Deluxe Paint artist. - Graphtech: 3D Studio expert. - Claws: Document Editor, Commodore 64 swapper. - The Avenger: Demo & Music tester. - Morgue (or what his name may be): Newest TUHB Member, Commodore 64 expert. - Asgorath: Sysop of WHQ BBS. Contacting TUHB --------------- Are you a grafix artist, musician, or coder? Contact us! You just want to tell us how great we are? Contact us!
