Dynakillers by GMG [web]
DYNAKILLERS ----------- by GMG, 1997 Introduction: ------------- It was about 2 years ago, when we (GMG) were playing bombastic game Dynabusters on Atari STE. This game impressed us so much, that we decided to write similar game on our small, but great computer Atari XL/XE. What you need: -------------- - computer Atari XL/XE with minimum of 64KB RAM. - 2 joysticks - disk drive or cassette recorder Description of game: -------------------- In main screen you can choose from 3 options (Start, Options, Help) by arrow controlled by joystick in port 1 or port 2. Each players task in this game is to destroy other player(s) by blast of bombs. During game can players collect items that can improve their possibilities to win. Start of game: -------------- After choosing this option, players enter their names. Maximal valid length of name is 10 characters. After this begins the game. When the round is over, the result screen will appear. Now, when ESC is pressed, game will end. Otherwise, fire on joystick causes continuing of game, if there is any round left. If all rounds (number of rounds can be set up in options menu) were played, Final screen will appear with the name of winner of the match. Options: -------- Following options can be adjusted: Number of players: 2 or 3 Number of battles: 1-30 rounds in game Background: 1-8 Roll background: Yes/No Keyboard control: XL or XE keyboard Sounds: Digital effects/Music Third player is always controlled by keyboard. Here is key definition: XE: XL: Up Q Up Select Down A Down Start Left Start Left A Right Select Right S Drop bomb Shift Drop bomb Shift Description of game objects: ---------------------------- WALL (simple wall) - solid wall. It can't be destroyed. ROCK (round rock) - it can be destroyed by blast of bomb. Sometimes can appear an item under it (+bomb, +fire, random, stop). BOMB (animated bomb) - can be dropped by player. After some time it will explode. +BOMB (bomb in icon) - This item adds one bomb to players inventory. Each player can carry maximum amount of 10 bombs. In the beginning everyone has only one bomb. +FIRE (fire in icon) - This item increases bomb blast caused by players bombs. Maximum fire can be 19 fields long. RANDOM (question mark in icon) - This item can increase but also decrease your possibilities. It may cause: fast or slow walking, maximal or minimal fire, fast or slow bomb blast, automatic bomb drop or stop bomb drop. All effects last 30 seconds. There is 25% chance that random effect will be fast walking. STOP (crossed icon) - This item cancels random effect. Last words: ----------- Game supports stereo sound system, if your computer is equipped with it. Otherwise, music and samples are played mono. There is a hidden cheat screen built in the game. In the screen you can adjust initial number of bombs, length of fire, amount of rocks and amount of objects. Try to find it! Following people were working on this game: - Globe (Robert Pecnik)- graphics, main coding - Marco (Marek A.Chorvat)- additional coding, samples conversion, documentation - Goldmaster (Marian Vybostok)- music, stereo support Special thanks go to following people: - authors of Dynabusters on Atari STE - Milan Cmarko (Hawkmoon) for help with conversion - Peter Baumerth for granting MD-DOS cartridge with Micromonitor Members of GMG: Globe, Marco, Goldmaster, Pedro, Legolas, Hawkmoon.
