WTF? absolutely fucking shit! it's don't work at your pc? it's normal, if you don't create this folder -> D:\CODING\cvs\engine_DEMO\compiled\ and don't copy demofiles in it. as demo it's totally shit.

was this the demo that didn't work on the compo PC and we waited 3-4 minutes for it?
Seems so, at least I can't remember having seen it on the big screen. :)
it did work on the compopc during testing. after about 5 minutes of loading.
since i laughed my *ss off during that preview, i wanted to show it live (with the loading time part of the event), but obviously i couldn't get it to work again. whatever :)

well the fun thing was we were sitting in the front row with a couple of guys (BoyC, Bhead, RCL, And... I think Foolman too), and we were kinda frightened when we discovered that the other pane of Windows Commander is showing a directory with a name like... "fr-minus-06_ghettorocker" or something? :)) We kinda got scared then :)
HANDS UP!
\o/
hmm... didn't work in windowed mode... i had the taskmanager open as well and that thing slowly filled 250.000 kb but stopped then... :(
makes me feel sorry that i use delphi.
but on the other hand, there are a lot of crappy productions written in c++ too :>

anyone who got this running and made vidcap of it?
pretty boring with outdated graphics. it also seems unfinished
how to run this demo (only at your own risk!!)
put the contents of zip file to D:\CODING\cvs\engine_DEMO\compiled\
run _engine_demo_1.exe
(i recommend you not to do this, this demo is pretty lame, unlike the soundtrack)

Heh, I actually really like this but that's just the sort of person I am.
There's actually no need to extract anything to your D: drive, especially if you actually still have a DVD there like me. The demo (eventually) finds the files it's looking for. It also runs fine in a window using XP compatibility mode, even if it doesn't appear for some minutes.
Yes, it is quite broken- you have to watch the first few minutes twice as it eventually gets around to decompressing everything; some of the characters appear to be chilling out, sliding around on their backs, occasionally clipping through things. The (fantastic) music (from what album?) runs out half way through too but I think the models are really quite nice even if the (lack of) lighting reminds me of bad early 3D games from the 2000s and the sky effect is very beautiful. There's the start of some nice work here IMHO; it's just a shame it wasn't tidied up. It even keeps running at the end so you can admire that sky for a bit longer!

It might also be worth mentioning that the log file mentions that my hardware can't interpret the dated technique of vertex tweening (dropped entirely after DX10 apparently) so there's a chance I wasn't even watching it as it should look and might require an older graphics care to run correctly. Something to test another time, perhaps.
