It's not only about Linux. Also about all other OSes which don't even have a (buggy even) binary driver from them.
I've been using an expensive thinkpad for 8 years, and I can't even use it properly in Haiku due to the nvidia card's VESA BIOS not even supporting the FullHD panel. 1280x1024 is painful on that. Yeah I know there are hacks around but nobody had time putting BIOS patching in our loader yet, and I shouldn't have to resort to this if they just published the USER MANUAL for their hardware, which is called specifications.

And in Debian it's been 8 years of either crashing or freezing 3 times a week or not detecting external screens and other annoying issues. And now latest Firefox blacklists it for WebGL because it's too old. :^)
