Source codes in a weird place, but available: https://yousource.it.jyu.fi/synti2/synti2/trees/master/synti2/doc/assembly16_1k

very cool synth for a 1k intro, even at the expense of the visuals

I like the visuals too, but it's hard to compete with entries like fulcrum's demo and astra by ribbon.

qma: no github?

psenough: I think I have a github account, too, but I keep most of my stuff in our uni's git server. By a weird place, I meant that these 1k codes are in the doc directory of another project :) but that is where it actually belongs, project-wise..

Great audio, good visuals, but separately... they feel a bit like being from different demos. I'll have to try tinkering with the source sometime.

Appreciate the rising intensity and the sound. The visuals... well :)

Yeah the audio is SUPERB. Refreshing to hear something that isn't obviously General MIDI or byte-buzz-beeping.

I wonder if this could be ported to Raspi. How's Raspbian and ARM for tiny intros? How does ARM code compress and can you use the same header/stub/etc tricks? I haven't tried.

See above comments.
Strong, very strong, music!

With some visuals closer to Stereo by TRBL, this would have destroyed the compo!

I think the music was strong enough to offset that the effect was kind of boring.

yzi, almost all tricks are possible, that's how we've been compressing our SoC (RasPi / Odroid) intros. There's some problems that warrant discussion though, I probably should make a thread about that later.

Hi. Thanks for the comments.. I did emphasize the synth - hence the name "Fuzzdealer" :). Nice that it had the intended impact. I'm not (yet) such a wizard with graphics, though. Also, on my current tricks on Linux there was only some 300 bytes available for all the artwork on top of a blank window and silent audio output. If anyone knows further or better tricks, I'd like to know them in order to destroy some future compo with a Linux entry ;).

yzi: the same stuff should be possible with Rasp, but it would be more of a "re-make" rather than a "port", because everything except the shader is in 386/387 assembler, and ARM is quite different.. might even end up with shorter machine code with ARM.. not sure.

If I have the time and a platform some day, I might port the same show to Windows, though, just to see how much difference there is in the overhead between the current Linux tricks and Crinkler output on Win.

Oh, btw, I really like tinkering with these tiny synths, so I'm up for collaboration, if anyone wants to.. Give me a "byte budget" and an audio buffer and I'll see what I can do :).

Bold use of distortion here. Props for a real synthesizer.

The visuals were surprisingly fitting; simple, sure, but support the soundtrack (which is clearly the star of the show here, and there’s nothing wrong with that) much better than expected after reading the above comments.
