for the amiga-0nly 0ldskool
Nice to see an invitation on the amiga 500 :) 40k with crinkler .. yeay !
Amiga only oldskool compo..
Why not seperate ECS and AGA compo ? Oldskool is ECS and nog AGA on many other party's..
To bad other oldskool platforms can't compete in oldskool compo anymore. However i know that for alot of years there were not many entries in oldskool compo at assembly.. But the ones who where there were from different platforms none the less.. (c64, zx spectrum, atari etc..)

Nice.
right on!
Cute
I still have no idea why systematically chopping platforms out of the oldskool compo was meant to be a solution to anything, but then again I don't have any better ideas for how it could have been rescued.
Ah well. End of an era.
Ah well. End of an era.
Magic's idea of a separated "ECS" compo sounds interesting though, considering the fact that so far, very few demos that specifically require the ECS chipset have ever been released (less than 20 AFAIK). Oh, I forgot this idea came from the person who specializes in talking out of his ass 24/7.
Discrimination of other oldskool platforms! :)
sod ECS demos, there are barely 5 OCS demos as it is a year.
Sorry for being unclear back there, my point was something along the lines of "there is no such thing as an ECS demo for fuck's sake".
Yeah, I wonder why ECS keeps getting mentioned in the Amiga community at all. Virtually nothing has ever required ECS, it's either OCS or AGA.
ecs keeps getting mentioned on pouet because the name of the platform used to be "amiga ecs" for quite a number of years until someone (ps? gargaj?) corrected someone else's (analogue?) brainfart :)
I deny all involvement.
i do prefer if OCS demos run on ECS (read: my a600) as well, tho.
Marking them as OCS/ECS is a convenient way to state that they do.

Because the "Amiga community" has a higher-than-average percentage of people with extremely low amounts of clues. :)
As for kicking all those unworthy platforms out of the oldschool compo: awesome decision! I'll really try to submit something again this year.

lmao
@Jope: I would have been one of the ones complaining when you took out the "non-mainstream scene" platforms, so yeah, I'm still complaining when the platform range gets squeezed further.
I understand that this is only a one-off, but I can't help but see it as part of a general trend in the future of the compo. Assembly was the first major party to introduce a cross-platform oldskool compo - and even as the rest of the party has gradually turned into a 90% gamers zone, it has a place in my heart as the party with the friendly, enthusiastic compo crew that was always willing to give my weirdass British computer a moment in the spotlight. To reach the point where the other platforms are 'expendable', even for one year, feels like another step towards the inevitable death of the compo. I hope I'm wrong.
I realise I'm probably being overly melodramatic here. We've still got the wild compo; I'll probably be missing this year's Assembly again anyhow; and I don't believe for one moment that my sporadic contributions to the compo are a reason to keep it open to all platforms indefinitely. But I think I'm justified in feeling a bit of regret at what we're losing here, especially when it's being portrayed as a celebration. Anyway, thanks for keeping the flame burning on the oldskool compo for all this time!

@Reed: I raised the Pouet/Amiga OCS issue in 2002, but it took years until someone actually changed it on Pouet, so people had enough time to get used to referring to the wrong chipset when talking about old-school AMIGA stuff. OCS is correct!
Cool to see a 30th birthday compo coming up, and nice invitation to that.

Marking all configs a demo will run on is just tedious (OCS/ECS/AGA/020/030/040/1.3/2.0/3.0/WinUAE/Minimig?), and there's no point in making an exception for ECS in particular. I doubt such markings are accurate anyway, as few people seem know the difference between OCS and ECS.
noname: my point exactly :)
.
I was surprised to see Wal in credits. Is this a new tune? Nice one.

And I still think that those icons for platforms are in a wrong way.
Checkmark was used as an official Amiga logo in OCS days, and although boing ball was in the very first demonstrations it only became popular and official logo later, in AGA days.
It still confuses me every time here :)
