And yes, the timings seem to be off.
Fun effort and nice to see such a comeback, but let's face it: it's uglier (all those upscaled 2D gfx), runs a lot slower than the real thing on an emulator on the same PC, and the timings are off.. Piggie because I still love the original :)

Not a fan of remakes or re-imaginings, but things like this show how mature (and stagnant) and self-referential the scene has become. In a way that is good. But it's also boring and sad.

Second Preacher. The real thing (A500+512k ) ain't dead yet. It even has had a small renaissance over the last years.
nice try, but upscaled bitmaps look superfugly. it ruined the experience for me.

I dont have any problems regarding speed. I only had timing problems when I switched to another tab in Chrome while playing the demo and coming back - I guess the browser window playing the demo has to be active all the time to keep the timings correct.

As you say, the challenge here wasn't technical but more a feat of craftsmanship to re-code it all and not lose your sanity in the process. Did you have the original source code ( with comments ), notes from back then, ... or you also had to redo the timing and waves/curves of the objects ?
I had a quick look at the code, it seems rather funky ( reinventing built-in JavaScript functions and co ) and sub-optimal for the platform ( but that might be to be true to the original demo ).

This remake is so matching -- it emphasizes the greatness of the original!
Nice, nostalgia-trip, but I can only hear the music in the end-credits of this demo.
Oh, I forgot to mention (only hearing sound at end-credits), I use Firefox on Windows 10, because Chrome is not privacy-oriented.
