nice effect but judging by the quality of recent 64/128byte intros im sure theres plenty od room for optimizations.

Mind the platform: windows and crinkler :) not Ms-Dos. I'm sure you can fit much more if you do PE stuff and library loading yourself instead of using crinkler, but crinkler is just simply comfortable.

Actually looks kind of neat (very egrg!), only terrible colors but not much choice... and yes that window setup + exit seem quite nasty.

i see that this was inspired by Drainbamage, but made in pure asm which made room for an actual effect.

There is plenty of room for optimization.
You could make your own PE header for one, and rewrite in asm.

Wow, never had this error message. But I guess you need less bytes to produce it.

You found the hidden part :D
No, really. That's new for me as well, but considering all those ugly hacks in the intro, I have no doubt that it won't work on some systems. You could try to debug it youself if you want, compile it with yasm. Source is included.

mudlord: check first, post afterwards. first the "fake" post on the 8 ball 4k gfx entry and now this. it is written in asm. just check the archive... for the pe header thing you might be right, or not. currently it's packed with crinkler which also uses the pe header to pack stuff in there.

other than that: 512 windows, good thing.

On my School PC it works (Fullscreen) and it leaves the shitty Start button much more awesome, and that permanently until you move it or rredraw.

Why not to code an intro?

Aww I didn't get the start button effect :D Pirx... I think maybe he just did?

The reason for this dirty messup with the desktop/start button is that I don't create a window, I just get the device context for the entire screen and draw directly into it. On the one hand, whatever windows cover the screen won't get invalidated when the intro ends, and on the other hand, windows that do invalidate during the time when the intro runs will disrupt the intro. Try running the intro while having Chrome maximized :)
It's a dirty hack, but it saves so many bytes by omitting a call to CreateWindowExA.

LMAO reading the drama above! :) It actually works on my 3 X 1680X1050 LCDs ! It try to output at 1920X1080 and partially overflows on my 2nd screen to emulate a virtual 1080P screen! LOL
