It might be possible to shrink it further by eliminating palette, as suggested by frag. Some other idea for the adventurous: negating the formula one should be able to use xadd to save a byte, eliminate bit mask/screen alignment, use 256 fixed point math, 'cbw' instead of 'aam 0x55' for the starting point. My 2 cents: never lower the quality just to save a few bytes, try to approximate the ultra mundane Kolmogorov complexity for the full fledged thing :)
