Doesn't work in DOSBox :(
added on the 2010-03-08 18:14:08 by aki
It works in DOSbox. Is it an EGA demo? Probably the second I see (after Mega Ega demo, are there more?). Resolution 640x350 with 16 colors. Cool!
Judging by the speed (scroller needed maybe 32768 cycles or a bit less to be smooth, with graphic pics you needed more, 3d dot ball didn't even run at more than 65536 smooth) I guess maybe the demo was done in quickbasic and EGA was better than VGA for have several video pages for flickerles flip. That's my guess only, maybe I am wrong. Oh and there is no music..
Maybe I will try to run it in an oldschool Pentium 1 with Dos and enjoy. The sphere had many many nice dots but I need to see it smooth. The planet gfx are nice.

Thanks for your responses,
the DEMO use only EGA mode 640 x 350 x 16 colors. Was written in Turbo-Pascal Borland 7.0
I use just Assembler for the vertical scan line synchronization to have perfect (smooth) moves.
I didn't try in DosBox but I use the classic ntvdm.exe ; the DOs 16 bits emulator for WIndows XP.
And on my Intel Core 1.8 GHz ; all the pictures move (and 3d dot ball) are smooth.
Thanks a lot for your comments.
I see with pleasure there are again people who know what the EGA is !...
you can start NOST /TALK
the program will show you all the loading sprites
I will see "Mega EGA DEMO" now

Thanks for responses.
For that reason I re-uploaded it because don't know how change URL ...

baba ega!
Still downloadable after nearly 11 years. Nice to see prods for simpler hardware.

Hello,
this here DosBox version :
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=89116
i removed the dosbox version and put both into 1 archive. the individual dl links to the prod are over at demozoo.
and TP thumbs :)
The demozoo link shows two versions of this prod. They actually work both in DOSBox. Yet for an unknown reason DOSBox runs the whole thing very slowly (like 6fps instead of native EGA framerate). The demo starts with a linking step of the assets in memory, which takes at most a couple of seconds on a real machine and 70 seconds (on my machine) in DOSBox. All in all, DOSBox doesn't do justice to this prod.
Disagreeing with the last comment. If anything, DosBox is too fast. But to be fair, the speed varies a lot over the whole prod. I had to adjust the cycles for each scene. All in all, nice EGA prod =)

if this prod is a fake, some info is false or the download link is broken,
do not post about it in the comments, it will get lost.
