After Planet Risk I expected much but what is this? Strange. I hope it doesnt supposed to look like it did on my machine. Very "fragmented" screens..

No, I think it was released at BP05, because they also released another demo at TG05 and the 3rd one of the trilogy is planned for Pixelshow :)

Let me check the results though..

Not the demo type I like, noisy visuals, possibly well presented but annoying for my tastes,. piggy saved by the music which rules!

this is dope stuff.

thank you so much asd for proving that noise demos can rule and still be fun to watch for people who don't like that kind of thing.

I don't get the point of that much distortion. Some things look ok but most doesn't. And those cubes don't fit in at all.
added on the 2005-03-28 20:49:47 by beavis77 beavis77
This demo is the second part of the "Ambience - Aphorism - Antidote" trilogy. It is an experiment in sound reactive graphics (or distortions if you prefer) and is somehow a tribute to Satori. Allo? Was?

the noise/filter/fuckup was nearly as uninspired as our bcnparty demo (not intended as a lame plug). i hope you got drunk and had fun when making it, and i'm somehow assuming you did.

if it was really intended as a serious attempt to do something totally special or cool or whatever, then you kind of failed, however.

fuckings to all the "oh no it's not glowy and shiny and totally unlike planet risk, i'm so disappointed!!"-idiots, though. make a glowdemo yourself instead of complaining about competent demomakers who prefer making something they like to make instead of pleasing your puny little mind.

Kudos to people supporting a scene that (at least tries) to expand artistically (the end result is somehow irrelevant) rather than being typecasted.

The trilogy is focused on the Aristotle's element line of Aether, Fire and Water. Aphorism is the Fire part. You can control fire up to a certain extent, but fire is always unpredictable both in its movements and constraint. The various backbone synch points and imagery is depicting the control and constrain of the fire, while the distortions and artifacts are representing the randomness and unpredictability of the flames, that however begin with a seed.. the flammable material (which is the music and its frequencies). The style of the music is harsh and expands into a multitude of frequencies to show the wildness and mercilessness of fire.

As for the 3d objects appearing at certain occasions.. ahm.. well you could say they are the currywurst being cooked ehehehehehe =)

Skrebbel, we were not drunk when we made this demo. We were however when we watched it on the big screen =)

I expected to see random noise, after some comments.

Well... this is NOT even noise! Well it has some noise at the background, but the most part is a distorted video, pictures and/or something, synched with the music! If you try to see what's hapenning, you'll notice how the colors match to music's moods at some points.

This production is superb. While Planet Risk drops your jaws at the floor because of it's effect, Aphorism gives you harsh emotions with a touch of anger at some points and unexpected calmness at others.

I really like it. Thumbs up from me :-). I want to see more prods like this at the future :-).

Evolution!
rulez added on the 2005-03-29 23:50:21 by blueflame blueflame
You call this "artistical expansion"? I think its a pretty common approach of distorting what is seen as norm aka noisedemo. We all have seen many. Though I have to confirm that this is extremely well executed.

If you want to make something remotly new try a pop-art demo or something.

The music kicks a lot. Especially after the greetings and before the ending. I have to say that the visuals did not please me. The howthehelldidtheydoit element was completely missing. It takes a great effort though, to organize chaos with so decent results. I can tell because I was recently experimenting with the same kind of idea.

I had to watch it a lot of times to figure out if I love or hate it. And this alone deserves a thumb up.

sucks added on the 2005-04-06 21:30:07 by winden winden
Although I am pretty interesseted in Aristotle and really appreciate art influencing the scene, I don't think the link is really obvious. I really like the new approach of asd (not only because it gave us the chance to become 3rd).
But somehow it could have more contrast (not in colors but in density and abstraction). The cubes hurt a lot. The music it brilliant although not really fitting for fire.
Because I thumped up [url=http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=13272] I have no choice.
