boring, boring and once again boring...

Yet another example of nice, responsible technically sound models and no clue as how to use it.
I think there's a symbolic irony in the fact that nobody is actually *in* the rides, people are just bumbling around a bit.

Holy poop! This rulez!!! I'm stunned...!
why the hell are you obligated to have such ugly aliased font ??
at least once those rgb smash designs colors fit to the show..
i was expecting to hate the demo, but it was a hell of show in the compo..
and it allmost made me puke my currywurst :)

A 3d world demo featuring alot of objects that is shown together. It kinda works, and I guess this is much better on bigscreen than on a monitor.
Hate the font though :)

thanks smash designs for this useful benchmark utility! now i know that my 1,4ghz machine is too slow!
but where was your demo at ms?
but where was your demo at ms?
Nice 3d graphics, but the demo is so boring.
The demo-data-file took up 16mb of diskspace on the compomachine. How can that not be reason for disqualification?
impressive modeling of a fair and it's mechanical devices and that's it.
oh yeaah, and its boring.
nice modelling and this time colorful textures fit very well into the scheme.
but - a big BUT - why in earth did you have to show the same thing over again and again? after first minute i was still impressed by this demo but slowly it starts to suffer from the kasparov syndrome... i have no idea how long this demo is for real since at some point i fell in the sleep and the continued still several minutes after waking up but anyways it's definitely too long...
in overall nice 3d and ideas are ruined by turning it all into excessive boredom.

great idea with very nice objects. but it's way too long and is surounded by strange speeches and voices.after watching it 2 times you won't start it again.it's a typical "compo-burner" which doesn't work at home.
doesn't run here - tnt2
maybe I'm lucky :)
maybe I'm lucky :)
Nice one - I think it was a lot of work. But this definitly isn't one of the top 3 demos from ms2k2.
It's very interesting but rather slow (I will try in an AMD1700Mhz on a friend now, yey!) to see a totally crazy 3d detail of a lunapark going wild with nice fitting music! And it's a nice thing to see an interesting production from Smash Designs again!
Insomniacs might find it useful.
argh .. this is really awful. the artwork is horrible and its extremely boring. sorry guys.
The scenes are very detailed and technically it's very impressive, but it's way to long. Sound could be also better, so for me it's a bit overrated with the 1st place

must be some kind of joke - but i don't get it. and even if their mother got a 170000KW engine and a weight of 100 tons - i don't care. what's next ? someone uses the CAD-data from his work and makes a demo about lawn-mower engines?
don't get me wrong, the models are quite good and very detailed...
but they stay boring. and it's sloooooooooow like hell!

boy - at the bigscreen this was .a.ma.zing.! it loses some on a monitor but in no way this is boring. it is .not. too long. it .is. too slow.
oh - definately thumbs up for this great experience!
this was destined to make it to the top - a definite crowd-pleaser (like those amusement parks it displays). I think if they had saved some polys that are spent on the gadgets themselves, they could popualte this world with the real 3d people to ride them - what's a karusell (ahem 8)) with no people riding it?! technically impressive (polygon pushing-wise), lotsa work involved, but I doubt I'll ever get back to it again..
oh, and it ran merely with a couple of real slowdowns on my pIII-600/gf3. I guess my rig passed the test. 8)
thumb up to worship madman aeg's big bunch of work! it was one (maybe the only) outstanding demo of the 50! shown in the compo. it deserved the 1st place!
Uh... this won? Err.... Örgh.... No thanks... :(
Different, looks nice apart from the starting, but it's a bit boring. It's questionable if it should have won the first place or not.. I think that maybe not.
this demo really rocks! it's almost a wonder
how to display such an amount of polys, even on a GF2MX. and it doesn't run slow!
smash designs really deserved the 1st place, and it's good to see another group than fr at this place!

cool, but it is a bit too long isn't it ;)
This is the most boring prod ive seen since fr08, it must have won my mistake. Some decent 3d models though but that's it.
everything mentioned already - demo way too long and boring, had more impact on the bigscreen, no one riding the devices, only 3d scenes, shitty font & music.
the only good thing left are the detailed models, i like them because they really seem to technically work if they were real. the manual cameracontrol *could* be fun if the controls weren't crap :/

1st-place shows only one thing: gamers own the majority of votes in the hall & they credit 3d-worlds more than style/sync-demos.
though i'm pleased that neither hjb with their 100th scriptdemo (evolve, guys!) nor fr (pukemusic - again!) made it #1.
real party was outside anyways;-) ms is a sceneparty again! thx!

Simple translations and rotations of 3D models aren´t enough for a demo...
There are a lot of nice textures, but the models and animations are not interesting enough, and the 2D persons walking around do not make it better at all.
Looks like they threw out the good parts while downsizing the data. It is a pity for all the work behind it...

how could this win? nicely modelled rides but bad textures, horrible sounds in the music, ugly colours, very boring and WHERE'S THE ROLLER COASTER???? ;D
trip2o you must be the moron in here, saying that gamers voted for this is really proving it. there was not enough gamers there to make any demo win! :)
More think about that the voting started like 06.10 for pcdemo where the votesheets on paper should be turned in 06.00 ;)
Also not everyone has network and it was overall annoying to get votekey etc.. Blame the votesystem and not your gamerfriends:)

this one ownzya.
on the way home we've seen some amusement parks from the bus, and were amused, how dull and gray they are compared to this. :)
A bit long tho, no one is actually riding, and hangs on my machine before the end, so no thumb ups.

This is the rythm of the night !! Oh yeah !
Godd but boring 3ds player, bad music, and slow on my computer. Don't deserve 1st place in demo competion (it's demo not technology compettion)

parish fair kasparov, nice, but too slow
the idea is really amazing. virtual kirmes!
the problem is: it's waaaaay too long, the music sucks, the font is ugly. however, there is a lot work behind the 3d Stuff, dont forget that. so it's "ok" :)

Well, if you are to impress with objects then don't do it for 15 minutes please... I turned this off before it was finished, because I was bored.. .and yeah... why aren't people riding the amusements?.. hmm.. I can't figure out how this demo won mekka this year :/ I can only agree with the word: boring-
nice piece of coding, but if you look at the artists side there isn´t many to mention (only little on the effects side, and i don´t really like those "spritepeople").
it surely would fit and win a certain subcategory like "realworld" if there was anything like that. yepp it is a way to long but never the less it remains to be a fine piece of coding i think.

No thx ...
It lacks a frame counter for benchmarking. It is technically impressive (lots of polygons, lights, detailed models etc) but that's it. The music is nothing to write home about. It could easily become an nvidia technology demo but it does not deserve the first place in Mekka.
stefan: The voting began shortly after 5 am and the deadline for paper voting was moved to 6 am, so there was enough time for voting (network voting deadline 9 am).
this one really was very long and when more than 1 attraction was shows, it got very low framerates on the compo machine and I heard it was 1.6 GHz...
i think all you people are forgetting that it was *hell-a-slow*. those "people" probably were billboards because the engine in no way could push more polies. it looks like the engine lacks any proper culling.. this shouldn't be so slow.
from the modellers side: great job!

It's funny to see the names of old PC and C64 smash designs demos in the machines..
Still watched it today and it's a crazy new technically thing (rather slow, but I have never seen so big detail, even in Dreamcast! It somehow shows the demos of the new generation when cards like Geforce3-4 will be used in the scene (Does this demo support them btw?) Ok,. I will be crying with my Voodoo2 till then :)
But it was nice to see such a thing, and a comeback of Smash Designs. Well done!

looks nice, but ooooh so boring. sorry.
boring boring and you know what? boring.
after reading all your comments i decided to declare some rumours.
first of all this demo was 10MB zip size (read the compo rules) not 16 as macaw wrote.
the next point: it doesnt even matter if you got a 800Mhz or 1,7Ghz CPU. the CPU is really bored in todays 3d engines, your graficcard got the most work.
and actually you will not find any usual 3d card that draws 800.000 poly by 60fps while using 18 lights.
and at last: a lot of people dislike our demo style, but we decided to do something new and not always the same boring demo design everyone else did.
the only point most of you are right is about the lengh of the demo, actually i think the same. the demo should have been a bit shorter but now its too late to change.
and to all of you who wrote this demo is boring .. i dont know what it more boring, our demo or such demos that rotate stupid senceless 3dobjects for about 5 minutes with drum and base music... i think this is boring. AEG/Smash

heh right on =)
but still..
"you will not find any usual 3d card that draws 800.000 poly by 60fps while using 18 lights"
THEN GODDAMN IMPLEMENT SOME SANE CULLING ALGO SO YOU DONT HAVE TO DRAW 800.000 POLIES ?????
i'm not so happy that this ride wont work on my system
i think i made my point clear :)

of course this was pure namevoting, but still it looked amazing on the bigscreen
I don't like this at all.
but I just cannot thumb it down since there has been a SHITLOAD of work involved. And I'm sure this also amazes a lot of other people, I'm just a bit weird.

it's a bit too long and not too many things happen (and it isn't really fast on a gfIImx, don't know what someone means...)
anyways, the modelling looks somewhat real and it's really impressively detailed, respect to the modeller. that's why I give it an above-average o.k. :)

This demo rules - also as an example on why one should use LOD!
when I said maybe I was lucky I couldn't run it with my tnt2.. I meant it because it would probably be painfully slow on my system... but I'd really like to see it -- just wanted to clarify :)
AEG: Would be nice to see a final version coz the party version refuses to start here. Even when it will crawl like hell on my pIII-450 / tnt2 ;>
OK, finally saw it (and I thought it would be better to comment here than the you suck! thread).
Short version: see Jazz's comment above.
Long version:
First part reminds me of Machines of Madness. Font is oddly low-res.
Second (and main) part - amazing 3d modelling and animation. But the "Kasparov treatment" of changing the camera position to every beat simply does not work for this demo. The viewer's attention should be focused on one part of the scene at a time, so they can take it all in. Instead it's thrown all over the place, which isn't good in a realistic/"concrete" world like this. The people sprites were a nice touch, but as others said, people actually on the rides would've been icing on the cake.
The music as a whole is.. not bad - a little repetitive. But the tossed-in voice samples are awful and cliche.
The demo might've worked better if it were like Toasted. That is, it would start with some "warm-up" abstract/2d (& 3d) parts, then midway through, go to the big amazing 3d world (for a couple minutes or so). This would've made it much more interesting. All the camera movements needed would be a quick flythrough, a view from each of the rides, and maybe a shot of the whole park at the end. Followed with a proper ending, it would've been a memorable, deserving winner.

Didnt like it very much...
boring, slow on a GF3 (60 fps where?), horrible font... i guess u ms guys where to drunk ;) cos in my opinion there were much better entries than this one (even after the 10th position). Whatever...

amazing production.
i don´t like the music. the voice-samples are horrible.
the models are simply impressive and i don´t think that the demo runs too long - i just like watching the virtual kirmes!
1st place @ ms2002 was totally deserved.
(if there´s a final, please add a better soundtrack to it)

what an amazing world they created..
that's what i thought when i saw it on the bigscreen..
but at home it ran VERY slow and the textures/people looked ugly..
so i have kinda like mixed feelings..
amazing work although.. but not perfect..

how can anybody say this isn't a great demo? it perfectly demonstrates that current consumer hardware isn't capable of displaying 800000 polys with 18 lights at an acceptable framerate... ;)
respect for the insane amount of modelling by aeg and i don't think the music is bad, i don't really like this style either, but it definetely fits the theme of the demo.

well, this is abslutely not true.
nowadays stuff is still very limited by CPU
about the demo, frankly I thought this was some kind of a joke. it's not not pretty, the 'idea' behind it.. well.. "let's make a demo with colors! and rotating stuff! and it should have stats for all these machines, that's fascinating!".
honestly, I never thought "effort" means anything without final result. sitting on the toilet is also an effort, but shit is shit :)

After reading the comments here I was prepare to really hate this demo. Well--that just shows how wrong one could be. The weakest part of the demo is, imo, the music. It has some less-than-great samples, especially the voice samples, and some of the voices were utterly malplaced in the demo. However, in this demo, I actually do think that voice samples could've worked well if used better, as on tivolis there are always a ride operator screaming things into a mike :)
Further, the first presentation of the rides was done very poorly, imo. A still picture with an ugly windows font? Why not just use a writer with some cool tivoli-inspired font while showing the rides for the first time?
Apart from that I liked it. I really did. Yes--it was too long, but I lived through without an itch to press the escape button. :)

pretty slideshow. goddamn awful font, though.
now, what let's all wait untill fuzzion comes along and releases a 4Kb version of this. Never say never... ;-)

Music was good.

However, this demo a bit boring.

Yes, things like raytracing, compression, databases etc. The lights and polys in this demo though, only stress the vga, unless of course you still have a first generation ATI 3d decelerator :-)
Can we upload a complete screenshot, somehow?

pushing -- a big number of -- polygons is not 'nowadays' anyway.
render a cube with 10000 faces next time, it'll be less boring
I'm not sure if it deserved to win ms2k2, compared to fr-020 or other prods. Well, people voted it so it does, in a sense, but you know what I mean.
I enjoyed it a lot, which when combined with the huge work involved, makes it a very good production in my eyes. It's a bit too long, and it sorely misses running at a sustained 60 fps (it would have been worth it!), but well, it was:
- Different from the standard styles (abstract, coder-effect, techno and 3d story)
- Well produced
- An original theme
- Impressive to look at on the big screen (so everyone says).
So, what's not to like? It may not be trendsetting, but I don't understand all this whinning. :)

I don't know if i should give this a "rulez", but i do for the impressive amount of work and love for details. No doubt about this.
Still, here's my constructive criticism:
- SDs definitely need at least ONE person with even the slightest sense of aesthetics. sorry.
- It IS too long and sometimes too slow. You could have made the cuts shorter. You could have used texturing instead of modelling out single screws. And D3DPP_LOCKABLE_BACKBUFFER is a VERY VERY VERY BAD idea. I doubt that upcoming cpu/gpu generations will let this run much faster.
- the music could have been good, but the mixing is horrible and the speech/SFX samples don't fit.
- the fonts, uh, well, no comment. This would have taken ten minutes and any of the hundreds of graphicians running around at MS.
In whole, next time look out for someone with some design skills, ok? This one could have been a killer :)

Considering the amount of work this prod took, i think the makers are wasting their lives.
OK, there surely is a bunch of work involved in all that stuff. I was really impressed by every modelled screw n stuff. But it is sooooo long. And apart from the killer scene there's nothing. Just nothing. Just like any other PC SDS release, it fries your brain on the big screen and then second time at home on your own small monitor it's just a waste of time
euurrgghhh what can i say ! it's a very good ... work ! yes ! especially the 3DS player is very good =) !
No, seriously, the demo is too long, music stick to the demo but is not particulary good modeling of the horse-gear is good but there is nothing except that, the guys of the party are ugly sprite urgh ! and the textures ... arrrgghh ugly !
And did you see that all people at this party never use horse-gear. Each time they are launch, no people are in ! very weird !
bahh i don't really like it sorry !

Hopper: Just like any other PC SDS release?? Have you never seen Sleepless? Anyway, it's AEG's first serious attempt on PC when I'm right. So big RESPECT at all (and waiting for a final version)!
the final version will be more long? ;)
trace: At first I hope that it's *running*
i liked it! too bad i didn't get to see it on the big screen. watched it at home from beginning to the end... the music is not that bad, the vocals fit... i wouldn't watch it again but it's not as bad as these comments here made me believe (almost thumbs up) :)
I was a bit disappointed that I got severe frameskips in some parts, running the demo on an athlon1200/gf2ti 64mbddr/384mb/win98se-system, I don't like the vocal samples in the soundtracks (they are both not fitting, and also too loud in the soundmix), and yes: it's _too_ long.
except for that, the modelling is great and the lighting is, as in sleeplees, beautiful, and the music sounded very promising until the vocals ruined it (kinda hardfloorish :)
Anyway, I'd thumb it up if I had good performance, but since I didn't, I don't :)

Crest: I have seen Sleepless. What i meant is the following: After the first *wow* on the big screen you watch any SDS PC demo at home and you think "oh my god, why have i voted that". And that's a phenomenon i noticed in that way only at SDS demos...
ahemm... this is to boring to win mekka ... I would have prefered easter egg in that position
Crappy sound ! Crappy Design ! Crappy colors ! How could this demo win ? ? ?
Squaley: After 40 demos which were shown, this was obvoiusly the one, which was remembered the most. That's why it won...
Hopper: Sorry, I still watch Sleepless on a regular base and like the sound/atmosphere in this demo. So don't mix your view with the view of the many people who like the demo. But anyway, this page is about Adrenalin, not Sleepless ;)
too slow, i love horse-gear especialy for their sensation. the modeling is great, with 700k it can, but the rendering isnt especialy beautiful.
Awesome .... just not for a demo
hm.. pushing polys like that is really easy.. modeling this is not so easy.. but this thing desparately needs some LOD and culling...... it was slow on my P4 1500 with GF3.....
and GET A 2D GFX GUY to fix those fonts..
and GET A 2D GFX GUY to fix those fonts..
It was smooth on my AMD 1,4 GHz with 512 DDR RAM and GeForceIII and I love the big scene. A nice object presentation, maybe there should be an extra compo for only"OBJECT presentation" demos ?
Nevertheless tooooo long, and the fonts and people textures do not fit to the scene.
Respectzzz for the models and camera movement...

Time to shoot down a bird with an ICBM:
The good points first:
+ Pretty nice modelling
+ Some better than average camerawork
+ The use of lights in some parts fits the theme
Then the bad:
- Simply one of the most horrible soundtrack in any serious production _ever_. The lame vocal samples used were cheesy and cliche even 'back then'(tm) and the levels of the various instruments are totally fucked.
- The use of color is just plain horrible.
- It lasts and lasts and lasts when clearly there isn't enough things here to justify anything much longer than 3 minutes.
- The textures are _bad_.
- Its fucking slow.
- The visuals and music never really 'connect' (except maybe on some really campish level)
- The sprite-poser-people... these might have been nice in some more abstract manifestation of the same demoidea.
- No rollercoaster:)
- Its ugly as fuck
- Theres no pacing and nothing that could be called design.
The biggest problem i have with this prod is that it had potential of being something really nice but the makers just seem like they didn't pay any attiention to _anything_ their senses pump into their brains on a daily basis (If you're making some amusement park things, go to a one and actually look around yourself). Other than the modelling and some of the camera work there seems to have been absolutely no quality control involved on the part of the makers.
A shame, really:(

I think it would be a nice idea to code a second part of adrenalin which is much more darker. A ghost fairground or something like this. With ghosts and monsters and amazing light effects. Combining this with these meshes would be really cool and stylish. Also all of these machines are empty (nobody is sitting inside them!) so it would fit to a ghost fairground.....and...ok I should stop that now :)
great models, terrible music. no clue about the code.
maybe a remix will make everybody happy.
maybe a remix will make everybody happy.
nice models. that's it. music is horrible and i just got bored after a while.
oh yeah. and there is no roller coaster ;)
I can't even run it !!! Tried 3 different computers with 3 different hardware and on all of them the damn demo crashed after a random time (from 10sec to approx 1min).
From what I've seen, it I can't give it only one rating: coz the 3D modeling is very impressive (thumb up) but on the other hand, the code is almost inexistant and buggy (thumb down).
btw: the font & loading screen are worth a thumb down too :)

Yes, the models obviously represent a lot of hard work, no argument there. But apart from the modelling effort which seems to approach mechanical engineering levels of pedantic precision, this demo has the worst graphics I've seen in a demo in a long time. Any "Stuff you need to know about 3d" tutorial would tell you that a nice model can be utterly destroyed by ugly textures and bad lighting, and this is a prime example.
Then there's endless camera flybys, seemingly random editing, and utterly generic music with voice samples that sound like they were found on some leftover C-cassette of an 80's producer. It all combines to create an absurd level of drabness.
Quite honestly (flame away), there seems to be something particularly German about this production. Like Scooter's music is supposed to be 'happy' or 'uplifting' yet has the exact opposite effect, this is a demo about an amusement park that completely fails to amuse. And thus this demo ends up being some sort of metaphor of a profound emptiness underlying our lives - "you can try your best to fight it but you will only end up feeling it even more acutely" seems to be the message.
For that reason, I can't thumb this down; intentionally or probably not, it has become depressing to the point of art.

oh please zone, you think that demos shall be limited to your really sucky hw? you yell about amiga demos using turbocards, and btw.. most demos fucking need himem.sys crap !
i still don't understand why when i run the demo in 640*480,
some parts of the demo are below 5 FPS.

There are far too many thumbs down for this demo. Clearly a lot of hard work has been put into this demo (especially in terms of modelling).
It's nothing stunning or original, but objectively speaking this is a good prod.

Although I expected more from the ms2002 winner, this demo surely involved lots of work, form the coder and modeller side, but a shorter/faster version would (maybe) been better.
Nice level of detail, thumbs up for the 3d Gfx!
Nice level of detail, thumbs up for the 3d Gfx!
fails on a Voodoo5 (expectedly), works fine on a GeForce2. An ok demo... nice models, ok lighting, somewhat entertaining. Nothing I'd watch twice though.
first time i watched this one i found it very bad. now i think it's really great, if still too long.
modeling is incredible (such precision is just madness), but cameras should have zoomed more on small detailled parts that can't be seen well from a long distance (engines for example). thoses ones are made from LOTS of polys too, so i'm not surprised animation gets jerky sometimes. pay attention to those details, and you'll realize the entiere complexity of the scene.
ho, and music is very cool too.

My comments on the "800,000 polygons with 18 lights":
- Where the heck are all those 800,000 polygons? I mean, if the people were polygon models and not billboards, then _maybe_ :-) Seems like somebody could have removed a lot of polys here without too much noticeable detail loss :-)
- 18 lights? Why would you be shading every single little polygon against 18 lights, when most of them probably are too far away for any real effect anyhow? I couldn't see lighting from 18 lights anywhere, at least :-)
Overall, it's way too slow (even on a P4 2GHz with GF4Ti4600 :-) ), and not very amusing in general (the music isn't very good either). I think I'll join the `how the heck could it win Mekka' crowd :-)

camera movement in the first part is really annoying, many scenes are too slow (even on a gf4 - talk about gpu-limited framerate), fairly poor overall design (tremendous love for detail though) - plus all the things that have been said already.
AEG, where are your coding skills? you were so unbelievably brilliant on the c64 :)

"we decided to do something new and not always the same boring demo design everyone else did". How would you define "flyby in a funpark" as being new or even innovative?
jazzman, aeg didn't code anything, look at the credits, he "just" did the graphics :)
*sigh* let's get this over with
BAD:
- Fonts made me burst out in laughter
- Sprite-people are pathetic
- Managed to do chops on a 1.5GHZ + Radeon9900 (number maybe wrong)
- Music _could have been_ nice BUT the noises and shouts are too loud, and it's not catchy enough.
- Too much repeats of the same scene. Do NOT come with Kasparov, it had musicsync...
- Butt-ugly (not to mention the still mages)
- Too big!
(- Won't run)
BUT GOOD:
- Insane amount of work put into the objects + textures
- Quite good code actually, missing backfacing tho'.
- Idea.
- Has some weird feeling. Not quite the one in an amusementpark, but somehow close.
- I like cameras fixed to the objects.
- The freefall-gyro was actually done quite realistic.
Awwww... Ok, I give the thumb up but only if SDS produces a very cool next demo :)
(Where's that friggin rollercoaster?)

I think that's a fair summary, though personally I like the music a lot.
It has it's faults for sure, but the more times I watch it, the more it grows on me.

cool but boring
I like this demo. Nice ideas, many love for details, nice music. Great work guys but it would be nice if the next demo run on slower machines... ;)
yes
Very bery nice! Good scenes!
eeeek
nice idea but boring
nice idea but boring
sorry, but i can't let "massive amount of work" count positive when it looks like this. sure, some of the textures are nice, but oh my god.. that's not even NEARLY enough. i finally got a badass machine to watch it on, and... well.. how could this win? the graphics were terrible, the code is slow (or the objects are way too complex - no demo should lagg on a xp2000+ with 512mb ram and an overclocked ti4200 with 128mb ram. no demo!), the music is absolutely HORRIBLE! what the f**k is up with that truckload of ACIENT samples triggered on every new pattern of the song?! AWFULL! ..and the length.. oh my god the length.. it goes on and on and on and on.. my monitor went into blank-mode THREE times while i watched the damn thing.. now.. i respect the code, so no thumb down, but next time.. get some decent gfx-artist and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD some decent musician, and you'll have a killer-demo. (..as long as they include some actual demo-effects :) ..and to the people who dislike it when other people comment things negatively; tough! this demo actually won one of the most prestigious demoparties of all times, and at that with 40 other competitors. when something like that happens, we are allowed to disect it a bit.
crapping on your compiler is not considered work. I consider it to be excrement.
Very Boring... Horrible Music A bad bad demo!
(stephan : suck my dick)
tested on P4 + GeF4200ti
very lots of work on the 3d models! it's very like the reality
but all the textures are very bad, only few textures are ok, and these bad gfxs kill the hard work done on the models
music is like the music in these fiestas : sucky :)
3d engine seems to be good, but i experienced some low fps on a GeF4200ti+P4
funny to see these 2d sprites of poser models to give us the illusion :)
the realization is bad, i wanted to be in these devices! testing it at crazy speed!
but no, it's just to see it, empty of people, without interest
so, it's like reality : boring with bad dance music

The models are great. But a little bit too long.
quite nice, though the musick was really awful =)
Very very nice 3d models.... And the scene indoor is nice too. Quite boring otherwise. A good point for the idea, whitch is, I thinck, quite origninal..... So, this prod is ok, nothing more.
you 're really all a bunch of blind alcoholic.
it rules. but the work done is not focalized on the 'usual details' like other demo, but on other details usually thought as useless.
i would compare this demo to a documentary. (who would modelize the bolt on an engine a reallistic way ?) while other demo style
is more to be compared with holliwood's action movies then. the merrygoround of this demo EXISTS, this really ports the demo art to semothing else than abstract models.

well this is the fuckin best "3d demo" i've ever seen (or at least i don't remember the others :)
(of course, some ppl would say that this is not even a demo - but then, 90% of post-2000 "demos" are not demos at all... :))
i love the music, i love the cameras, i love the details (although i can't see them without cheating the hardware gamma control :)
of course the font suxx, the textures could be much better, it is slow, it would need a gamma, the rotating light at the start is jagged, it should have some design, there should be some code too, and it could be 1 minute _longer_ (after the freefall there should be about 30-60 seconds of insanity :), but it is very cool anyway

memorable for fucking up the party results
God the music was dreadful "YEAH!! WHOOP! COME ON!" shut up. I'd be so embarassed if I put that shit together and had it played to 1000 people in a hall. The rides were pretty but the demo was just so, SO dull, ran like ass, crashed just after the dodgems and looked rushed. The text was terrible!
outstanding and boring. tho at the party it looked cool. another problem could be that it was shown last and they had 50 demos. probably people forgot about the first 49 demos like i did :(. maybe evene manipulation by showing it last? i can imagine none would have noticed it if it would have been shown first.
hate those colors. boring. maybe looks better on bigscreen ?
trigger: it was not shown last. the compo was devided in two parts, because of the 50 entries. imho it was the last demo in the first part of the compo.
I know for sure I liked it on the bigsreen, so thumbs up!
and after the first part of the compo most people went to bed cause it was already f***ing late, so adrenalin maybe still had that certain advantage.
but still, this thing rocks both gfx and atmosphere wise.

good demo with top 3d work!
boring demo with no soul
the tune sucks ass. the musician probably had no knowledge about anything concerning on mixing down tunes.
piece of shit.
piece of shit.
Er... no.
amiga port PLEASE!!!
at least rush hour made me laugh :(
haha this is pain to watch.
huge work... but boring after a while.
What kb said.
Besides, it crashes on my machine at random spots. :/

That's really boring.
Music could be better, but really cool demo.
this is a real impressive demo, cause it got a great idea to demo a amusement parc.
ok, this one could be much better and faster, and the music could be more handz-up like cascada or basshunter or scootertechno!!!
but, i love the details in this demo, so it is a great release. i think this idea give some inspiration for future demos...
i hope, this is not a game like "theme parc" *lol* thaan i just puke on the corner...

ok, boring flyby. imho - really sucky cam movements. hard crash.
it was okay at the party, but it sucked hard times when watched at home..
I dont like the music, but it fits to a fair... at least in germany^^ The idea is great imo. I still watch it from time to time, so it either cant be that bad or im as sick as the creators. Anyway - Thumb.
europop fly by demo with horrible soundtrack
Good circus fair - nice modelling. Maybe better music.
Impressive detail. But waaaay too long, and crowd looks cheap. and random.
boring...
Could anyone of you capture this demo? For some reason it crashes 1 minute into the demo for me.
seems to work a bit better with win98 compatibility enabled ... but still crashes near the middle.
Terrible soundtrack
Terrible soundtrack
ZZZZZZ
hmpf
How this thing can have almost as many thumbs up as thumbs down is a mystery.
I rarely dislike demos on the sole fact of being boring but I think I need to make an exception...
it is kinda boring
but nostalgic thumb up
but nostalgic thumb up
I remember watching it some years ago.
It's nice, but also a little bit boring..
Video please !!
It's nice, but also a little bit boring..
Video please !!
Very dated now, but I really loved this demo when I first saw it and thought it was anything but boring!
Some calculating... wow...
great engine, great scenes, a little bit boring result :)
Yeah, I had mixed feelings about this one as well. Kinda surprised it won, but competition wasn't particularly strong that year, so eh.
I liked this demo when it came out and I also like the idea behind it. So a nostalgic thumb up from me :).
The attention to detail is impressive, but the demo itself is boring.
why do i remember this demo that good and havent put my thumb yet? - Hardyana Jones and the lost Thumb!
I like it a lot, else i wouldn´t remember it that good, correct?!

Why Kraftwerk ant people not ride the rides, too scary?
Amazing work on many aspects.
Many downsides too, especially the length. But I kind of love the build up / progression!

=)
I never thumbed this one because I never knew whether I should give it a "rulez" or a "sucks". ..and I still don't know.
uhm.... no
So bad it is good (almost).
just because it gained cult status! :)
Just because it was a nice idea completely wasted by bad lighting and terrible design choices.
well, the work alone deserves the thumb up
Very good models, but camera movement kills the impression.
I like the setting and the outcome
this demo rules
They so much tried to build gamedev tech that they forgot about a demo style in this product. I like a gamedev tech demo much more while watching Sleepless. This is boring as hell and I quit in the middle. Never saw such a boring Theme Park like in here.
