- well, the problem of imbalance of power between corporate overlords and common folk is not new, industrial revolution, offshore revolution aka "they're stealing our jobs", etc. It's not an excuse tho to repeat the narrative.
- noone said it's new - although i'd argue the extent, breadth and disparity of it is unprecedented - but that it exists and it has severe effects.
- I think there is more to it than imbalance of power. There is a belief that genAI models can indeed create novel images/videos, but how novel they can really be is an open question. And the reaction to the unknown is fear (or hyping if you are a bad actor taking golden shot at it).
- the imbalance of power manifests in the technology being shoehorned into everything without attention paid to any of the concerns, whether that be moral, legal or ecological. that's the problem - society has been turned into a giant alpha test.
