- The art pack Magic linked contains great gfx by Facet and Critikill!
- Total affaktiert.
- Is that a fact?
- I don't understand why there is such a thing like low-code/no-code movement, but obviously a no-art/no-creation movement for artists/musician would be absurd, but with code it's ok? Programming was always esoteric, "geeks are cool" is a facade.
- Code is just an asset to get the actual job done; You could argue the counterpart to that in the art world is stock art / stock music.
- why spend time coding when there are other ways to do it? At least outside the hobbyist context.
- because if you dont code, someone else will, and that's usually worse.
- Who's stealing the starport BBSes?
- where to get money?
- fair point, although I say pick your battles. If you can avoid spending time working on stuff where prepackaged solutions exist, I'm all for it.
- I am interested in democoding because it is difficult - if it were easy, it would not be enough of a challenge.
- I find it quite easy to write democode tbh - embedded code or molecular physics simulations code is way more of a challenge
- I thought genAI tools were the low art/ no art tools, and there is a lot of heat around that. It's NOT OK for many people.
- I thought demoscene was based around coding.
- sorry it's all about doughnuts

- Admitted, with OpenGL and DirectX it is much easier to code a demo than back in the MS-DOS days.
- and this will affect the Demoscene.
- Actually I couldn't think of anything easier and more accessible than poking pixel bytes into 13h screen...
- IMHO it is more difficult to calculate the offset where to put a pixel in segment 0a000h than to simply write something like SetPixel(x, y, color)...
- Try vesa bank switching
- Why is it that when someone says X is much easier than Y, it's usually someone who clearly has zero clue about either? (Hypothetical question.)
- Did you mean _rhetorical_, by any chance ? :D
- Artists were depressed of AI because what's the meaning if no creative process. But coders (at least on tech gurus on youtube) were delighted that we won't have to write code. Coding culture is different for most.
- they're eagerly waiting that AI learns to move their foreskins so that they don't even need to f*** anymore
