OSX lion module player |

tried to look around a bit, but found no good solution other than cocomodx, which no longer is supported on lion. what do you guys use for module playback? thanks. |

VLC? (Not on Lion here, but I assume it's still supported...) |

i don't listen to mods as a rule, but the odd time i've needed to vlc worked ok. |

VLC, as far as I can tell, plays .it files horribly. I assume maybe this is due to the filters? |

Back when I used macs, I used XimpleMOD, which used BASS... not sure if that still works today |

For me vlc is only good for previewing, not for listening to modules.
When i give away module stuff i did to people who don't really know about modules i render them to mp3 with xmplay because most of them have installed vlc with its standard configuration and i really don't like the playback with vlc.
of course you can hear the difference between the module and a, lets say, 128kbps mp3 but thats better than the module playback with vlc i think.
doesn't solve your problem at all... and i don't use osx.
maybe there is some tracker instead of a player for osx lion and you could playback the modules with that. |

according to http://milkytracker.org/?links, vox uses bass. which is good.
i don't know what vlc uses, but i'm still traumatized by the use of mikmod in various "generic" players, so i wouldn't put my hopes on it :) |

VLC uses libmodplug, so it should be mostly fine. At least a whole lot better than mikmod. :) |

Ha yes, 8bitBubsy's Protracker clone is fabulous :)
btw, for OS X, the best player ever made is of course Audio Overload! |

cocomodX or Ximplemod should do the trick.
ximplemod can loop modules without glitching, cocomodX is a bit more polished and nice to use. |

Don't know if PlayerPro works on Lion, but you could try. |

Cog plays modules but ruins most of them in similar fashion to VLC. sometimes even crashing.
I would recommend schism or milky tracker, but i can understand you might just want a player, not an actual tracker. for playlist and all...
incidently just read a news about herotyc porting his player to lion https://github.com/jllodra/cmod
