Looking for AS programmer for the old school space shooter

category: residue [glöplog]
BB Image

we are 4:
I (the one who actively works on the game every day) - a strong programmer
the guy from Australia - a good programmer, excellent knowledge of Flash, before joining the project has been done 2 space shooters
2 artists with (by now) very low performance
we seriosly plan to make the best 2D space scrolling shooter
we create it because of joy but we think about money too
the game test with dirty (mostly made by me) graphics is here:
http://btrgame.com/
the old Java version (in all directions tinier but FINISHED) is available here:
http://btrgame.com/btr/battery/battery/battery.html
as a proof that we are ready to finish the project
we are gonna release the first minimum but complete version in the end of August
then we are gonna sale it for about 500$
then we plan to continue developing and selling new versions for a bigger money
the complete game is gonna look like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQdu4NsWU4Y
are you interested in collaboration as an artist or designer or AS programmer for interest (like we) and % from the future gain?
actually we have plans the game is only for 70% just a game but for 30% a collection of interesting graphical objects with procedural animation (graphical demos that are harmoniously built into decorations)

$500? for a flash game?
1) Collect sceners to make you a flash game.
2) Sell the flash game for 500$ or even more since this world ain't free.
3) ???
4) PROFIT!

$500 is a bargain considering that the next version of that game will have an increased price.

I think I'm going to save those $500 and download the game you're trying to achieve (Tyrian) instead.

huh guys, 6 replies and nothing true and serious
i see some people think it's a cool joke to talk like i meant to sell a Flash for 500$ to each player
El Topo my English may be far from perfect but it definitely doesn't suck hard
and u know i don't need your advices about a job

if there would not be opportunity to earn something i would anyway create it

Not at all, it's a very good idea!

You could probably sell a Flash version of your amazing Doom77 for $500 as well: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=34248

You could even release a value pack: $750 for Doom77 + Space shooter (free shipping). Madness!

you reckon that would be more likely to succeed..?

If and when he fails to do so, (certainly have no doubts about his ultimate success in this flawless plan) he can put the game here and have instant recognition, fame and fortune...

@M77: you should post on shmup-dev, not here...

Ok, so here's some serious criticism from fan of shooting games like Tyrian:

first of all, I can't move diagonally while shooting. Second, there's not much happening here: stuff comes down, you shoot it, stuff explodes. There's no indication of just one unique feature here, and when everyone can make his own 2d shmup in GameMaker or Multimedia Fusion, it drops any chances for popularity.

If you're looking for some help in terms of gameplay or general support, do not advertise your game on places like pouet or such, for "serious" coding. Try forums like http://shmups.system11.org/index.php or http://www.shmup-dev.com/forum/index.php

And really, don't think about making cash right now. Maybe after next2-3 games.

:)

the fixed size of game makes it unplayable on my netbook (height to high)

and most of all, no tech worth noting. seriously, i have not coded a single line AS in my life, but i am sure i could knock up something like that java demo after reading a tutorial and spending a few days fucking around with it. and i sure as hell wouldnt post the result anywhere =)

considering the current version on the btrgame site M77 might consider reevaluating the shoot 'em up state of the art. It's not 1985 anymore so it will definitely be healthier to invest into producing something presentable before showing off hobby projects and alienate serious stakeholders.
