89-98

I would like to draw attention to an album of mine which has some interesting theoretical concepts behind it. The album consists of two tunes - one 89, the other 98 minutes long.
To read description of what the albums is and to download the mp3s, go here:

mmm my teen years...

i guess the fact that your album got the id #69 is totally random ?

Downloading. I have a long coding session planned tonight, perhaps i can listen to both.

I thought from the title it was going to be another golden number themed thing, as I'm a fan of ubartmar.com's 'macrometasomacosmos' album, which has 89 tracks (34x 55 second tracks and 55x 34 second if i remember right, 34:55 is the golden mean, and 34+55 = 89). The music was all based on it too, even the beat was in the 34:55 ratio. Good album, but totally different to this I suspect :)

Quote:
The intial idea for the album was to create a record that would not be possible to release on conventional data carriers such as tapes and audio cds.
Thus, it was decided to make tracks which would be longer than 80 minutes.

Sorry to disappoint you:

I know of such cds. They, however, are less common than usual 70 minutes. Much less common - I've never actually seen them sold.
Guys, thx for the feedback!

As for theoretical concepts, the listener should not be aware of them in order to enjoy the work. I just mentioned it because there may be people who would be interested/inspired by some of the ideas.
okkie knows.

Also, the 100min cds are not redbook standard, and the kind of people who thought breaking redbook standards was a good idea are the kind of people who brought you securom.

Louigi: nice work.

I hate to be a pedant, but neither of his tracks would fit on one side of that cassette.

I hate to be a pedant, but something like auto-reverse has existed since the 60's. ;)

those 100 minute tapes where severe shit. They would break really easily.

i'm almost afraid to mention 120minute tapes :P

Ahh.. 20 seconds of hissy silence and the clunk of a tape reversing half way through a song. Those were the days!
