I'm having a hard time trying to figure out that picture. :p

And there's sure a lot of "Biggest" parties in America. :D

Where is it located?

Salt Lake City.

BlockParty is awesome, but it is significantly smaller than what we have planned for October.

I can currently guarantee about 2,500+ attendees just for the after party. This year we're likely to highlight the winners on the Get Freaky stage -- opening the night for some of the biggest names in electronic dance music. That photo is Rabbit in the Moon at Get Freaky, 2007.

V2 Events is one of my biggest clients / partners. I'm basically the driving force behind this festival. With V2 helping out with promotions, this event is going to explode. Guaranteed.

I wonder if I can get your help. I need a list of demoscene VIP guests. Who would you like to see giving talks at this festival?

so, 2500 American "Cyberpunks" who think being a "digital artist" is to dress-up like someone from Bladerunner or Mad-Max movie. What is it, some kind of American Cosplay event?

Um, no. It's a festival that celebrates digital arts. I am compiling a guestlist of demosceners to present, and the demo competition will be billed as the big event at the awards ceremony, held up as the perfect digital media production challenge -- all the elements, from design, to music, to programming are highlighted in one art form, and we want to bring the demo artform to a broader audience.

Last week of October, the closing party will be October 31st.

I didn't know about NVScene before I posted this. *oops!*

I don't know if our party will be bigger or not! I don't know anything about their expected turnout. =)

I am going to zap them an email right now though and see how we can work together to make both events a success. =)

Are riot police with tear gas and attack dogs going to kill this event like that event in Diamond Fork in 2005?

http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/august2005/230805utahrave.htmhttp://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Dance_party_broken_up_by_police_in_Utah,_USA

I only ask because they have tear gas and Pilgrimage 2006 made me _cry my last tear_. I have no tears left.

Tell me the tale of crash '97. We had a good time, and accomplished some important demoscene outreach in our local community (something that Pilgrimage totally failed at every year it was running). Last year our focus was local, and we did almost zero demoscene outreach. This year our focus is national, and we're reaching out to the demoscene and trying to get them more involved. I plan to fly out influential members of the scene out of my own pocket to ensure that the demoscene at large is better (phoenix, you're on that list, if you want a VIP pass and an all expense paid trip).

The Diamond Fork incident was a sad day in Utah's history, but it hasn't been repeated since, and the controversy over Diamond Fork opened up an important community dialog. I haven't seen any trouble on that front since '05.

GbND: I had NOTHING to do with Pilgrimage 2006. I did not even try to attend.
