Correct me I'm wrong. Roger Penrose (Junior), a british mathmatician, patented "penrose tiles" and he gets money for toilet paper with that pattern, and those are what I would call mathmatical truths. :|

xernobyl: it's not a patent, it's a copyright over an artistic work (use of certain pattern for aesthetic tiling). all works of art are automagically copyrighted to the creater at creation time. patents are only given to inventions (australian ip laws are exception it seems).
