Anyone want to test my launcher app ADLaunch?

category: general [glöplog]

My program is now at an advanced state, but while it works for me, I wonder if it will work for any other user?

I'd like others to try out the program and see how they find it for its intended purpose, and to that end, I can easily put together an archive file that will contain all necessary data, like the ADLaunch items, data (disk images, etc), screenshots and even the emulators and roms. I would assemble the folders so that they match that of a Windows 10 install (C: root folders, Users folder for Desktop, Documents, etc) so all that would be needed is to drag the folders in the root of the archive into the C: root, and so they would all end up in the right places.

However, there are a couple of issues: I'm not sure if the folders I mentioned are in the same places with Windows 11, and a new user called "aaron" would need to be created to match my own folder within "Users". Any other Windows 10 installation should be compatible once this is done. And if I ever add my Amiga files to this, I think some tweaking of the WinUAE configs would be necessary for the Display, as my monitors can output 50Hz.

So is anyone interested or not? Maybe you have your own launcher programs?

Here is a demo of ADLaunch for you all to try out:

Just extract into your Documents folder in Windows and double-click on ADLaunch.exe, and you're good to go!

Seems to work just fine Foebane72. In the full setup do Atari demos launch via Hatari seamlessly? If so that's pretty cool, as is the rest of the availability of one-click launching demos and music. At the very least it's a nicely contained collection of demoscene stuff.

They do launch on Hatari seamlessly, the "Auto" ability of Hatari can boot into any HDD demo with the TOS or PRG executable. Single-disk floppies are fine too, although I still have to manually swap floppy disks in Hatari for multi-disk demos.

In the full setup, I use (a) base configuration(s) for the Amiga, Atari ST, Atari XL, etc and then use ADLaunch to modify the base configs as and when needed (for Hatari I'm using an Atari STE config, then downgrading to ST or upgrading to Falcon 030 as necessary for each item).

Not just demoscene, but games, other apps and as you can see, weblinks, too, with their own unique screenshots (I just don't have any for my internet bookmarks, but I can add individual ones easily and they will override the default image I use at the moment).

In fact, all of my games, even Steam games, launches from ADLaunch! I just like the idea of an all-in-one hub for all of my leisure software - or any software, come to think of it - especially one that I developed all by myself! :)
