I feel sorry for their souls.
Almost the same happened in Greece one year ago...

That's indeed very tragic but what's your point concerning this BBS?

well finland is tiny (population wise) and its demoscene is huge, so the chance it was actually jmagic or i0 or some other scene legend in there is actually realistic.

Those killed were young people going to a Finnish ski resort. You suggest demoscene people get out and do sports? ;)

(Shouldn't use smileys. My best friends brother would've been in that bus if he hadn't broken his wrist a few days before)

We have a "saturday night overkill" syndrome here in Italy, 909 people died on Saturday night crash incidents in 2002.
Luckily, since there aren't demosceners here, the chance of loosing a groupmember in a big car accident is rather poor.

And yes, the thread is quite out of point here.

bah, in france we have +5600 dead on the roads per year, so about 15/day, much than the 11 september no? it's life, death is never very far, so, before it comes, produce some demos to stay alive in memories !!! ;)
dixan: i saw how italians drive. no wonder there are not too many demosceners, since most potential ones probably die in small car accidents!

dix: i argue that, so, since i'm an italian demoscener, i'll never die in a car accident. that's definitely a good reason not to quit.

i feel like reminding dixan about a certain road near turin, some wild boars and the beers consumed earlier... ;-)

(and yes. this topic is completely pointless)

hell, my cousin was involved in that huge gotthardt-tunnel accident in germany 2 years ago and i didn't tell anyone.

but what gives, the pouet-bbs is spoiled anyway. just keep on bragging about any non-demoscene-related stuff.

Whats the point of arguing about dead finns? I mean, they are dead for christs sake.

I couldn't agree more with arneweisse, and i believe that we should "knock on wood" (mfx) and keep on coding, creaating music etc etc

Mmm,.. I was in France for SOTA and I think people were driving like crazy there. Perhaps I got used to the German drivers during these months. I almost forgot how people are driving in Greece. I am wondering how many deaths from car accidents do we have in Greece (Does anybody knows?). The last time I have heard, they said that we hold the record in Europe!!!

Zone, about the amount of traffic-related deaths in France... You say "bah, in France we have +5600 dead on the roads per year" - but the amount of total deaths in traffic accidents per year has to be proportioned with the overall population, as the number alone doesn't really tell you anything.

If the given figure of +5600 is correct, that makes roughly nine deaths per 100 000 French people. The corresponding number is eight in Finland. Thus the relative rate of traffic-related deaths is quite in the same category.

I get the point of your post - and actually agree with it :)) - but the statistics don't so much justify the dismissive tone.

i think you cannot actually compare, because in Finland, roads are more slippery. Besides, it is colder there and this lowers concentration.
