NVScene 2008!

category: general [glöplog]
Yep - a woman came out of nowhere in a thousand miles an hour, and I had to hit the breaks hard so as not to be hit. The freeways were worse though - haven't these people heard of using the blinkers?!

Gargaj: I thought of it as another bonus for going to the USA. It seems it doesn't work. But Australia is a maybe :D

Did anyone notice the seats for NVscene are slowly decreasing? there are only 7 people registered, and the places available are decreasing... there used to be 2 full rows, now there are only 2 haf rows >:(

nasty! those 7 people deserve those 2 full rows!!! nvidia cheats the scene!!!!

LiraNuna: It will increase again as more people register, so if people know they are going -- register FTW :)

i'm always waiting tje demo box :) :) :)perhaps for nvscene 2012 :) :)

ntsc: No demobox is needed for attending or submitting to NVScene, so that should not stop you from registering. :)

I hope those 'marked out' seats are not going to make us get a smaller hall or somthing,

i know that there no demobox needed for submitting.... but if there's no more demobox available juste say it...
Registered 2 days after breakpoint... and the only responce is : "just wait....." :)
demobox is a good motivation to made something for this "party"....
i think there's no cocoon demo for nvscene :(

LiraNuna: Well, it depends on how many signs up I guess - not much point in having empty seats - then that space can be used for something else, a second bigscreen, speakers, chillout lounge or whatnot. :)

ntsc: seriously, your post is just insulting. blackmail isnt going to get you any further - ~20 groups signed up BEFORE breakpoint and a lot of them still didnt get their boxes, but they're not complaining. mostly.

ntsc: That attitude is not getting you anywhere. Calling it a "party" and stating that there won't be a demo from Cocoon unless you get a box is childish and, as Gargaj puts it: insulting. You make a prod because you want to, not to get FREE STUFF(!!!!!111oneone), and being a downright bitch about it doesn't really make you look too good either.

If the only response is "just wait....." then you simply JUST WAIT. Hardly rocket-science, is it? Do you think people aren't working on this? Do you think it's because we LIKE having 40+ computers sitting in a warehouse somewhere? Maybe you believe it's no big deal to collect and verify a shitload of names and adresses, producing correct documentation for shipping, and then packing and posting dosens of computer parts to dosens of different countries all around the world?

Well, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you: it is a lot of work, and you make it look like you only care about yourself and not about all the others waiting for the same thing. Drop the attitude, sit back, and you'll be notified in due time (along with everyone else who applied).

May I suggest (you take a rest) that you play around with that beefy computer you got from the Intel Demo Competition instead of acting like a four-year-old? I say, good day.

Hahaha, Cocoon strike again in the "Good scene spirit" :D

If think if there's no prices or gifts or nothing else to win at demoparties, Cocoon never released anything...

Ca fait pas un peu "crevard" non cet esprit ?

gloom: i'm not defending what ntsc said, but a liiitttle bit more communication towards the signees (apart from this topic) wouldnt hurt.

you make it seem as if you and your fellow organizers are putting a bucketload of effort into the task of setting up this competition and i believe you..

but you must admit that nvidia is pretty much yanking everyone's tail if that be so, right? it's not as if 40 pc's, how beefy they may be, are anywhere near visible on their yearly financial statements and i'm not assuming that you're being rewarded a whole lot for this either. and be sure not to answer that, because that is none of my businsess. nor is it of anyone else outside of the organization.

so in the end we all get frustration to deal with and they'll walk away with a reel of demos to show off on their symposium whilst being relatively cheap by just handing out some goodies and let the scene solve it from there on.

that is how you make it look to me right now. no idea if it's right though.

anyway, i'll be waiting some more as well :) it doesn't frustrate me as opposed to ntsc ;)

minus typos.

why frustration? these ppl crawling thru the dust for a cooporation in return of some hardware says a lot more about them than about the people who don't participate in this project. but that's just my view on it.
still, all anyone had to do was to add his name to the list and make a handshake agreement to try and deliver something for nvision. no contract, no binding obligations, no anything.

that is, quite simply, not a position to be making threats. because right now, none of the people signed up did anything that deserves compensation in whatever way. asking about the progress etc. is obvously okay, but making demands or even threats is way out of line.

I could not agree more with Gloom, Gargaj and Ryg...

maali: so making demos is "crawling through the dust" now?
added on the 2008-05-16 16:43:15 by Gargaj Gargaj
no, but making demos in behalf of a commercial cooperation is
avoiding the obvious ad hominem response, is entering a commercially sponsored party (= Breakpoint) "crawling through the dust" then?
added on the 2008-05-16 16:47:47 by Gargaj Gargaj
that sponsorship is at least a tad less obvious and direct than this nvision gig. some ppl might be in the game for the physical rewards, even at breakpoint, but they shouldnt be.. besides, they can win way more cash in other art related competitions (if you really are that good).
