                           " Dream Dimension "

Released the 3rd of January 1998
                           (IMParty 6 release)

Requirements: Atari Falcon or compatible, with:

                         - 3.8 megabytes of free ST/FastRam.
250kilobytes of this has to be ST-Ram.

                         - FPU (maths co-processor).

                         - VGA or RGB/TV monitor.

Compatibility: This demo should run error-free from any
TOS- compatible OS such as MiNT, MagiC,
Geneva or plain TOS ofcourse. This is
only possible if you have enough free
                         RAM available (naturally). Personally we
have tested it from TOS 4.02, TOS 4.04,
                         MiNT/plain-bash, MiNT/N.AES, MiNT/MTOS,
                         MiNT/oAESis, MiNT/MiNTOS, MiNT/Geneva,
and plain Geneva. We did not experience
any problems with any of these operating
                         systems.

We have also tested the demo from BlowUP
high- resolutions, and it has restored
everything back correctly, so you should
be able to launch the demo from almost
                         any configuration.

                         Regarding hardware compatibility we have
tested it with Nemesis and FalconFX with
FX-FastRam. We could not discover any
problem with these systems. If you have
16 or 32bit FastRam it will use that and
                         enhance the framerate further.

If you have a VGA monitor and suffer
from the TwinSync problem, you should
run the supplied twinsync patcher. This
shows in the fading pictures; if you
see flicker there on VGA, use the patch-
program. If you don't see that or use
                         RGB/TV, don't run the patcher.

Videmomodes: When you start this demo for the first
time you will probably say "hmmm..".
This is cause of a long row of possible
                         selections between videomodes.

The keys F1 - F10 will start the demo in
one of the VGA-monitor videomodes. While
1 - 4 will start it in one of the RGB-
                         monitor videomodes.

For VGA it's quite simple; the higher
refresh- rate you select, the larger
area of the display will be covered by
the demo-fx. Just be careful so you do
not select a mode that can damage your
                         equipment.

For RGB it's the same thing; the higher
refreshrate will use a larger part of
the display (well, with most monitors
                         anyway).

Higher refreshrate also means that the
videochip collects more data, and thus
gives less bustime for the cpu. It is
however quite hard to notice the diff-
                         erence it makes on framerate.

Now over to the "BOX"- modes you can
select. These are available for both
VGA and RGB. They are mainly put there
for fun and not for any real use.
I did however read some review in UCM
that stated they were happy to see some
1*1pixel fx on a smaller area. Well here
you get the whole thing 1*1 if you take
a box-mode. Boxmode could also be a good
choice for people with a poor VGAmonitor
and no RGB/TV. The 60Hz box-mode is much
more correct "perspective" wise than the
equal normal mode. Well it's up for you
to select what you like. We've done it
                         as easy as we can.

Regarding framerate & videomodes we can
tell you that the "normal" RGB modes are
the absolute slowest ones. This is due
to manual pixel-doubling with RGB. This
is not the case with VGA and BOX modes.

Last words: It was about time we released this demo.
To be perfectly honest I (evil) had some
serious doubts about if we ever would.
But now it's here and everyone can get
                         dissapointed. Expectations have probably
                         been too high again..

If you have any opinion of this demo at
all. If you think it's mediocre, nice,
                         heartbreaking, really awful or anything
else, we would be very happy if you
could write a short e-mail to us. Feed-
                         back is everything!

                         Now we're 45 minutes i nto 1998, we are
at the IMPparty 6 and are all quite
drunk. We wish you all a happy new year!

                         Code on!
