Personally I do not like the tiny intros too much since - by its size - there are not graphically aesthetic and mussicaly rich. Some of them, back in the days, were too often put in front of the games just because of its size and little blocks left on the floppy. For this, fortunately, we are not living in these I-have-no-bytes-left times, anymore ;).

Personally, I think tiny intros still serve a function. When adding trainers to a 4k game, isn't it better to use a 1k intro than an 8k intro?
If there are only 5 blocks free on the floppy disk of a multiload game, isn't it better to use a 5 block intro instead of turning a single-sided game into a double-sided game just so you could use a fancy intro?

Ofcourse, Mermaid, tiny intros HAVE (and not still, but just HAVE) a function.
Not only a challanging way to make sth cool in a small size (what need a solid background), but also to have a possibility to put an intro on an almost full disc-side.
As for the 4k game and a small intro in front of. Well... Personally, I do ;) prefer to see a great intro, even if bigger then a game ;).
