Yeah, that's not too shabby for 4k + JS.
rulez added on the 2012-04-10 14:05:22 by elfan elfan
A bit long to start but neat for 4k
rulez added on the 2012-04-10 16:20:11 by p01 p01
Any particular reason to prefer setTimeout(T,1) over eval(T) ?

Beautiful, a bit short but still.

Thanks for the comments!

Maybe it's a bit short, but actually we are quite proud to have crunched 2mn of visuals+soundtrack+""direction"" in a browser 4k.

p01>cb tells me: "in the rush for the deadline, it's the only way I found to execute the code outside the JS context of the <img> tag. Calculation were too slow if not (even with local variables)". He will dig the thing. Feel free to contact him (cb@adinpsz.org)j

final version (nicer final scene, works on Chrome+Firefox, various bug fixes)

online version

nice.

Works in Opera too ;)

wullon: I see. Sounds like a browser specific issue as there shouldn't be any noticeable difference between either approach :\

No way this is getting less than a thumb up on my part. I have no clue how music works in js 4ks, but the melody is nice. The lead-sound is perhaps a bit too pitchy, but that's just taste. The visuals and the general concept definately brings this little baby home :)

Punqtured>for the music it's just a js port of the win 4k synth Sonant

& thanks for the feedback
added on the 2012-04-18 12:45:17 by wullon wullon
Punqtured: As for how music works in JS in 4k, 1k, 140bytes, ...: The easiest and most portable way is to generate a WAVE PCM file, encode it to base64 and shove that into a <audio autoplay src=data:audio/wave;base64,HERE_BE_BADASS_TUNE_IN_BASE64></audio>. Nice, simple and short.

Wekbit and Mozilla have their own Audio API that allow to do synth on the fly, but if you ask me, it's retarded to write for one browser only.

Short and stylish.
rulez added on the 2012-04-18 14:31:26 by Zavie Zavie
Nice!

(...and I thought <img src=x> was not possible because of "canvas has been tainted by cross-origin data" sandbox stuff when run locally. Good to know!)
rulez added on the 2012-04-19 13:13:24 by losso losso
That's actually browser specific. See the nfo ;) Webkit browsers consider that a local page and local image ( within the same folder ) are not from the same origin. Go figure.

wow.. didn't recognize it at the party(atleast that it's 4k).. for a js 4k topnotch..

Excellent! Should have won! I didn't expect to see such quality music and graphics in a 4k JS intro.
Of course, not everything is perfect (some frequencies should have been filtered, the melody is a bit dull at some times, the underground part doesn't fit well), but overall this is awesome.
