*this is a dhtml demo and was released in the alternative demp compo*

haujobb made the first dhtml demo..we make the first decent one :)

require ie6+, flashplayer5(for the music) and a reasonable pc.

some of this stuff shouldn't really be possible in dhtml :)

and the combination toomuchlightinthehall/crappympegcompression didn't really show this one from it's best angles at the bigscreen :)

I didn't watch this all the way through. Sorry, but it just wasn't interesting and crawls at about 2 fps on my 1.3 GHz machine.

Humm, making a DHTML demo is a good idea, but this somehow gets lost in the "wow" effect... It's a bit too ugly for my tastes. :-)

i also have a 1.3 ghz pc..and it's far from 2fps on my machine... more like minimum 12fps (with my utraMagnusDHTMLFpsCounter (tm) ;)

and expecting a "real" demo is somewhat harsh towards this platform. think in terms of what's possible..not how it looks..

Kudos for being the first decent DHTML demo. Too bad it's mainly a showcase of IE5+ proprietary filters/transfomations :\

This'll get a thown from me.
Reasons:
*What p01 and PsyKon said.
*Music didn't start. Maybe the flash5 requirement is literal, maybe you need to downgrade in order to make it work?
*A visual bug: When you hover an image with the mouse, the save image toolbar appears. Simple to de-activate.
*No escape. A real demo >256b should react to the esc key. Ok, this is a minor one, but still... (:
*You brag about the number of layers, as if that defines the quality of the prod. My craptro (which=26100) uses a hell lot of layers, but still sucks bigtime.

One day I'll beat this. (:

Quite fun to see some people still watching this after almost 6 years :)

It looks like the flash5 thingy is a requirement for music. Probably some changes in the api. I don't even know if would work on current versions IE (as I've moved on to Apple).

In early 2002, IE was the only browser with a decent and fast javascript-engine. And it had the directx-extensions.. and that was cool at the time :) Opera and Netscape wasn't what they are now. And Firefox didn't even exist..

The layers -thing was just a cool thing to brag about... like with other demos that bragged about their rendering technique :)

PS: I think you can click a link under the demo-windows to exit the demo.
