the all-compos winner of the MS2k1 =)
added on the 2001-04-17 00:32:52 by analogue analogue
i was expecting a lot more from farb-rausch&scoopex...
btw the speed is so slow that i wonder if it ain't wanted ?
anyway i guess you'll easily show me something better next time =)
added on the 2001-04-17 17:45:10 by stil stil
This intro is not the best of ms2k+1 intros. She is nice but that all. The names of Farb-rausch & scoopex are the reason of the 1st place (i think)
added on the 2001-04-17 20:59:23 by jb jb
i think to !
it's a good rendering but just on a big screen, at home with my pc it's not beautyfull !
added on the 2001-04-18 11:51:00 by med med
Yeah, everyone loves the cartoon style, it seems. And everyone votes for group names they know. It's nice, but it's a shame they didn't do more with it. Also, they need to find an original title (ahem :).

So, whatever happened to "Heaven 8"? Argh..
added on the 2001-04-18 15:39:13 by phoenix phoenix
Nah, I don't think it won because of name-voting...
Personally I voted it on the top, because of the nice style and the new idea. Can't see always the same intros/effects anymore.
added on the 2001-04-19 12:44:17 by avatar avatar
some sorta rerun of paper. could be pretty nice if it was a bit speedier and made more sense...
added on the 2001-04-19 20:55:43 by bhead bhead
the used technique looks far better than the one in paper.
considering that both of the coders are quite occupied, i consider this an experiment for better forthcoming ones. and damn this one rocks :)
added on the 2001-04-20 14:21:07 by PigPen PigPen
this one is just the very sucky party version. 75% where done @ms2k1. And I suppose you can Image how you'd code after driving 1027km to the partyplaces and then coding 36 hours without sleep ...

expect a final with great speedup within the next few days
added on the 2001-04-21 16:09:33 by entro entro
Ok, those next days are over, just get the bugfixed version from our web page (see above) ...

... and also the almost full source is available there! Happy reading, learning and ripping :)

not bad, good concept, a little bit slow
music for me is not new (inspirated by ?)
they can do better, perhaps a 'no time to make a best' intro
this is a nice concept, with the "hand drawed" 3d.. and i believe the music is from the old c-64 game sanxion with music by Rob Hubbard..

i'll buy you guys some crepes when you visit for coven2k2 :)

it rulez because:
- it's small
- it's nice
- it's clean
- the zic is cool
- sources are available
- it's stable
- and the most important is that it's original, it's not the best attempt in compression/generation/optimizations and I don't like it for that, I like it for its originality.

There were many talk about that demo: That obviously confirm that it's an important prod in the scene history.

There aren't many prods nowadays which you remember of...
rulez added on the 2001-06-15 03:31:42 by analogue analogue
This intro is quiet cool, but the music is a kind of remix of an old amiga cracktro...

but oldskool roxx.
rulez added on the 2001-06-15 10:36:40 by alan alan
I like it though it's slow on my computer (PII 350 +TNT2ULTRA)

and I also dislike the texture...but it's an intro so it's quite ok

I especially like the lines wobble effect
added on the 2001-06-15 10:54:07 by p01 p01
well.. nice idea, but very short... only 3 scenes. didn't exactly do it for me.. .
added on the 2001-06-17 01:29:45 by fractalgp fractalgp
well, i like that it looks like a real cartoon, unlike all those "comic rendering" demos. it's a pitty though that they hadn't made their own music for the intro, could've been a lot better then i think.
added on the 2001-06-17 14:08:36 by robotriot robotriot
entropy made that tune in complete lack of time, so he decided to remix sanxion... forgivable I think :)

and well, about the 3 scenes thingy: that is because there were problem with the other scenes, after I fixed the rendering code for the final I asked entropy if we shouldn't include them, but he didn't have them anymore.
added on the 2001-06-17 15:08:09 by ryg ryg
yes, the music is from sanxion.
RTFM.... ermm... RTF .nfo ;)

I know it's a bit short, but well... can you trade me some time?
added on the 2001-06-25 06:53:38 by entro entro
It runned slow on my computer. Too bad i didnt get to see the demo in a suitable framerate. But it looked quite cool, and the music was nice :)
A masterpiece! What to say? The title says it all! Art, something that is missing from the demoscene lately. The music will make the C64 fans remember how many hours they have spent playing Hubbard's games
rulez added on the 2001-09-07 12:38:52 by zafos zafos
The review of this intro can focus either on the artistic part ("remember the old days, blah"), either technical way.

...

Enough bull, simply good, period. :)

Very nice "hand-drawn" rendering effect. Good stuff.

Interesting 'cartoon' style
rulez added on the 2001-10-20 05:55:19 by Zafio Zafio
I like the originality, and nice concept. Plus the cool music which fits the style perfectly. Also the line effects are quite good.
rulez added on the 2001-11-10 04:25:39 by Nezbie Nezbie
the 'raw' look I really like.

The size I really like.

Another example of a fine demo.
funny rendering style, but that's it.

It feels very empty.

nice rendering style, but the thing that makes the intro so cool is the music ...when I listen to it, it makes me very pleased ...a shame the module isn't there by itself so i can listen to it all the time without seeing the intro
rulez added on the 2002-02-07 11:05:53 by dwarf dwarf
it isn't a module, but a viruzII tune (like all farbrausch intro tunes :)
added on the 2002-02-07 18:16:22 by ryg ryg
I love this one. Fun to see some non hi-tech type intros. Wish it lasted longer though.
rulez added on the 2002-04-04 19:44:34 by chunKy chunKy
I was waiting for something more "gorgeous" in term of parts content and transitions from these prestigious groups, but this rendering is so cute... This intro is somekind like Paper by Psychic Link, it's singular, unique and simply fun.
(and it's 64k)
rulez added on the 2002-05-13 14:06:48 by willbe willbe
Nice touch with the pen-and-paper style, but very quickly becomes a not-very-impressing (graphically) flyby. :-)
added on the 2002-06-12 02:54:10 by Sesse Sesse
This one really rules!

And the music is a masterpiece as well!
rulez added on the 2002-07-20 15:03:01 by cyraxx cyraxx
Very good. It's different, I'm surprised more people haven't tried similar styles, but then I'd guess it would loose being different then. ;)

I enjoyed this one - nice music, nice style, BUT pity about the jerky camera movement and transitions. Also it got SLOWER since i upgraded my gfx?!?
Lord_Scott, It's software rendering, so it has not much to do with your new gfx card. ;)

Anyway, still don't really like this one. It
looks empty and unfinished, music's much worse than the original tune, scenes too simple, camera movements ... and on top of it all, it won the compo. %-)

This intro only misses one thing:
content
sucks added on the 2004-10-15 09:04:46 by BoyC BoyC
I liked it on the big screen because it was very different, but now something is missing. Not really content, because the journey is the reward. Anyway, great style.

The original rendering in combination with the oldskool feeling gives this thing a twisted feeling, it's like looking at a vector flyby in an oldskool demo, but at the same time it's not... nice...
