"well, is it any good? any advantages over using, say, schismtracker?"

Main advantages over schism:

-Sane, mantainble codebase
-Even at 0.9, it's more stable/less buggy
-Screen can be resized (not fixed to 640x400)
-Theme support
-Very powerful sample editor
-Customizable keybindings
-More editing effects (timescale, note reassign)
-Built in chorus/reverb per track

"Pig it is for now.
Seems like a great effort, but until a few bugs and annoyances are fixed, I just can't thumb it up."

Just more useless feedback, please detail your bug and annoyances if you want me to do something about it.

To BitL:

Just for reference, this feedback is not useful to me at all:
"
-Music not playing in background-mode
(if window of tracker dont active)
-Trouble with stereo!
-more small bugs

But realy perspective project!

"

If you are having bugs, dont assume they happen in every other system too and that I am fully aware of them. Please send me an email detailing the bugs, your system and how to reproduce them.

Thanks!

At Crusader:

"well, it works, but looks like it was built with Motif (black, white, gray, and fugly)"

read the help on skins (help->skins) inside chibi, in the tarball skins are in the skins/ dir

"it fails to load one of the .xm files I created with milkytracker (but that may not be its fault?). It also fails to load pretty much any MOD I throw at it."

XM Loading is not perfect, the official spec is pretty messy and for some reason i can't get them always right.. but should read far most of them fine. Need to spend mor time on that.
.mod loading isnt implemented yet, it seems i forgot to take it out from the file browser. sorry!

"Biggest qualm at the moment: No option to follow the music (scroll down the patterns, move to new pattern) and no highighting either."

see Ctrl-F, you can change the keybinding in the keyboard settings

"Second biggest qualm: No close button on any of the boxes. I'm now aware that you can just click somewhere else to close them, but it's a bit disconcerting."

That works just like in IT, you have to press ESC. I will add a close button in the newer versions, didnt realize that a lot of people wasnt used to IT.

"Oh, and if it can create and save .it files it's already better than Cheesetracker"

CheeseTracker can save ITs fine

The application uses only SDL by default for display and audio, so it can be compiled for amiga/mac/linux/bsd/beos/etc without modifications. However, I dont have any of such platforms, so porters that can built it there and make a release are very appreciated!
Also, linux was removed because of this? since when is linux stuff distributed binary?

Cheers!
